Shutdown? What Shutdown? Part II – The intolerance of Progressives

“My goal is to make Washington as inconsequential to your daily life as possible”

– Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) during his run for the Presidency

Earlier today, Steve said:

Honestly.  If I didn’t blog I wouldn’t have even noticed.  It has had no affect on my life at all.  None.

I’m  not the only one.

Me too.  At this point, there is no part of my immediate life that the “Slimdown”, as the Fed Govt has shut down an additional 17% of truly non-essential personnel, has effected.  “Oh, you just don’t KNOW all the ways that Government works to make your life better every part of every day” is the blasting I’ll get from the Left (yeah, we’ll get the obligatory Timothy comment on this one).  “Don’t you know that everyone and everything is connected?  You’ll be sorry soon!!”  Doubt it.  Yes, there is “connectedness” but having served on my local Budget Committee, I’ve already argued against most of the local versions of that 3 Card Monte and as a political blogger and activist, I’ve heard and watched the same thing at the State and National levels.  And at each level, I come up with the same conclusion:

Baloney (and not very good baloney either)!

It seems that those in Government, and those that can’t be but in thrall of and to Government, keep making all these connections and insisting that each and every connection, and insisting that trifling task, is equal to every other one and that ALL of ’em MUST BE A #1 priority.  The irony of that when everything thing is #1 means nothing is completely meaningless to these clueless ones.  Everything that Government does MUST continue and every dollar now (plus as much as they can get their greedy hands on as possible) can NEVER be cut.

These folks show their utter disdain for those of us (Rick Perry, Steve, myself, and most conservatives) that believe we can be self-sufficient.  They show their intolerance in the names that they call us in their attempts to marginalize and demonize (boy, their copies of Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals must be getting rather beat up looking) – they absolutely CANNOT allow people to think that they can be successful without them and their massively over-bloated bureaucracy.

To the point of what we see now – that the Progressives are hell-bent on hurting every single American with names, political targeting, Slimdown shenanigans (e.g., our Veterans and users of normally open-air sites) and the default that Obama will invoke if the debt ceiling is not raised – simply to get their way.  Bullies?  You bet.  Oh, they call everyone else bullies – but if you haven’t noticed, they will not allow ANYONE to opt out of their Grand Plans.  Just look at Obamacare – even with premiums and deductibles soaring for the average person, Progressives just won’t allow you to make a choice other than what they have made for you – they will use the IRS to target you and take your money (call it a tax, call it a fine – they will still take your money to HURT you and your family).

Us?  We’d rather let you make your own choices – including the choice to opt-out.  You see, we who are supposed to be the bad dudes (right Zandra Rice-Hawkins?) have no problem in you making your own choices – and not those that Progressives like Zandra force upon you.

You see, we believe in personal Freedom and Liberty and you are in charge of you – Progressives believe they should be in charge of you.

Choose wisely, reader, who you support.
