Now she is acting like the person why I voted for the other one.

WMURThis is from Pindell: “Ayotte is now acting like the person people thought they voted for.”  James, let me remind you that I’m not the only one – and they were LOUD.  He continues:

However, during the shutdown, Ayotte came into her own politically. She was no longer following the lead of mentors like U.S. Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham. When she reportedly confronted Republican colleague Ted Cruz on his shutdown tactics, even Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell was suddenly following her lead.

Really?  Tell me – what was she saying contraposed to Maverick and Grahamnesty? Neither of them have fight left in them – expect to fight those actually fighting FOR real Republican values (Grokster Scott has a great article on this – go read it or go read it AGAIN if you already have).  Neither of them were supportive of the Cruz / Lee movement in saying “no mas” to a larger government, more debt, and most wrongly – letting Obama now further subvert the Constitution (Article I Section 8) having no limiting authority to increase the debt to what ever he wants.

What she told her base was “I will not fight for the values that are most important to you”.

Stopping the spending, returning our governance to Constitutional bounds, and returning to the idea that Government belongs to us (and not us to the Government) – in her temper tantrum, she did nothing to defend or bring up those principles.  Simply trite notions, I guess  Instead, she served as the useful idiot in shutting down the Republicans.  No, she didn’t sound like McCain – but she did sound like Chuckie Schumer.  Sure, in the end, it didn’t have its stated effect (but has had a lot of positives outside the Beltway within the base) – but what was HER alternative strategy?  She hasn’t articulated that I know of – and simply saying that “I don’t have one but I hate your’s” doesn’t cut it.

This just is a head scratcher for me:

Her position during the shutdown, though, was both conservative, seeking the middle ground, and completely genuine.

What is “conservative” in expanding government?  What is “conservative” in increasing the debt?  What is “conservative” in not supporting the legislative actions of the US House – which has the Constitutional power to not fund legislation – even that which Obama considers “settled law”?  And what is “middle” when Republicans got bupkis and the Democrats got everything they wanted for free?  And now have the leverage in 3 months for the next go round – thanks in part to folks like Kelly?  “Middle ground” means somebody gave up something and the other side gave up something.  Now, I realize that I did follow every jot and tittle the entire 3 weeks, but I knew what was going on better than most – what did I miss that would give ANYONE the idea that the Democrats “compromised” on anything?

No, she just proved that instead of fighting tooth and nail for our principles, she fought tooth and nail to keep any mud from landing on her.  Problem is, it did.

No, not from the media, not from the Democrats (at least nothing more than the ordinary, but Obama was laughing).  Remember, she just barely beat Ovide in the primary even having boatloads of money he didn’t have.  Sure, she beat Hodes by a landslide – but who wasn’t?

As one Republican put it, “Ayotte is now acting like the person people thought they voted for.”

Gee, thanks.
