More on the “Ayotte Booing” – and not just because it is almost Halloween

As I reported from the First Annual Strong New Hampshire Conference, I was not expecting the reaction that the crowd had when Howie Carr asked them what they thought of Kelly Ayotte’s behavior lately.  Go here if you have forgotten.  One of our loyal readers sent this Letter to Ayotte’ s office and gave us permission to post (emphasis mine):

Senator Ayotte:

One of the primary reasons I voted to send you to Washington was to promote fiscal responsibility. Unfortunately, you have failed me on this.

The way I was taught the Constitution, spending originates in the House. Budgets are spending. When was the last time the Senate even had a vote on a budget? Budgets are one of your duties; the House has duly passed a budget every year, yet I have not heard you trying to force Senator Reid to bring one up for a vote.

Not passing a budget that has been negotiated has allowed the Republican caucus to play into the hands of the Democrats, one manufactured crisis to another. The Continuing Resolutions, fake crisis. The only reason they are being used is that the Senate has not even tried to vote and reconcile with the budgets passed by the House.

The Debt Ceiling? Yet another manufactured crisis. Even in this lousy economy, the official Governemt numbers show that the monthly inflows are much greater than that needed to avoid default. It is simply a matter of prioritizing what gets paid first; something that every household in America does as a matter of course. Why?  They have a budget.

The outcome of yesterday’s deal will be Democrats refusing to negotiate in good faith with Republicans on a true fiscally sustainable budget (they are going to push for getting rid of sequestration and higher taxes on my family), leading to yet another crisis on a Continuing Resolution and Debt Ceiling, leading to the President and Senator Reid again refusing to negoitate with terrorists and jihadists (why was I called a terrorist by Seator Reid, simply because I believe that the Federal Government should live within it’s means, the same way I have to?)

During this crisis, the House passed individual CRs to fund everything but ObamaCare. If the Senate and the President were truly interested in getting the shutdown ended and the debt ceiling resolved, they could have passed each one. That would have left a single item to be negotiated over; yet Senator Reid refused to even bring them up for a vote and the President vowed to veto them if they got to his desk. Does this sound like a party willing to compromise and negotiate for the good of the country? Not to me, does it to you?

I sent you to Washington DC to promote fiscal responsibility. You have failed in this. You and the rest of the Senate Republicans must start standing up to Senator Reid; force him to bring a budget up for a vote. Rules can’t let you force him? Well how about every one of the Senate Republicans start shouting to media (new and old, radio, TV, Internet) as to how many years/days it has been since the country has had a budget, simply because one person won’t allow a vote.

Do your job; I have no problem helping you get replaced.
