Finally! A NH Democrat Submits an LSR on Background Checks

I’ve been prodding the left to submit state level bills on enhancing background checks—we already have them so any more would be “enhancing” the ones we have–and we finally have some Democrats stepping up to the plate.

2014-H-2269-R title: requiring background checks for firearm sales.

2014-S-2607-R title: relative to criminal background checks performed prior to the sale or transfer of a firearm.
Sponsors: (Prime)David Pierce

Pierce is the Democrat NH State Senate Rep from District 5.   E. Elaine Andrews-Ahern (ahem) is a House rep from Rockingham 37, Hampton Falls.

Lady E.Elaine Andrews-Ahern (Ten-Hut!) wants background checks for firearms sales.  Private sales?  We already have federal checks for almost every transfer except inheritance or private sales.  That is clearly what Pierce is poking.   I’m curious as to what evidence they have that suggests private sales by law-abiding citizens are a threat to the common good?    Are they just assuming that law abiding citizens are criminals in waiting?  Their constituents might be interested in that–well, maybe not in Hampton Falls but Dist 5 might be a different story.

It might (also) be a good idea to ask them if they think their proposed law expanding background checks on private sales or transfer of firearms will have any effect on  the “private sale or transfer” to and between criminals?  Law-breakers are notorious for their inability to follow the law, though this seems to escape the intellectual superiority of the left.  If they say yes, it will reduce illegal transfers, by all means laugh in their faces.

You could then ask their potion on gun registries, for the record, as most elected officials balk at admitting to the notion that the government is keeping a list and checking it twice, so they can go take the guns whether you are naughty or nice.  We know they are.  We know that local chiefs have ‘receipts’ for folks who pay for a pistol license, which is a record of sorts of who might own a firearm.  Having a permit to carry does not mean you own a weapon but it gives gun-grabbers a short-list of places to begin looking.

They might say yes, they do think there should be a gun registry.   That would be refreshing and honest.

You could follow either response with asking their opinion about the snooping by Obama Care–asking doctors to interrogate patients, through Common Core–asking public employees to interrogate children about their parents, and the general nosiness of bureaucrats everywhere who are being encouraged to ask questions that will reveal the presence of firearms in a home.  See what they think about that.
