Schadenfreude, baby! SEIU gets boomeranged by Obamacare

SEIU

Healthcare VoterOh yes, those “I’m a Healthcare Voter!” days of 2007 and 2008 – Unionistas from the SEIU union (pretty much, not much more than a socialist front, IMHO) joined forces with AARP in trying to persuade voters that Universal Healthcare was needed or the country would end up in ruin.  AKA, Obamacare.  They invaded almost every event on the Right – this “Healthcare Voter” was at a McCain rally in Franklin, NH – and yes, she wanted us all to take care of her.  The SEIU put its all into preparing the battlefield space and getting Democrats voted into DC office.  They succeeded beyond belief – the Dems ran the table and captured the US House, Senate, and the Presidency.  And in that two years, Obamacare was spawned out of every Socialist’s idea of what Government could now to [for] everyone – and at the same time, take revenge on the ‘Evil people”.  “Unicorns and fairy dust is now real and for everyone!” was the cry

Well, given all of the self-induced problems we’ve seen lately, it seems that what is apparently “in ruin” is going to be the rollout of Obamacare in 5 days as it seems everyday for the last couple of weeks, “features” of the online Exchanges. The fantasy of Unicorns and fairy dust has proven to be just that – and now the IT folks are on their knees praying pretty hard – feature after feature keep getting put off to the point that small biz owners will have to FAX in their requirements – and maybe hear back in a month (and that might be an even bigger fantasy). And now, it has swung around and bit the SEIU in the butt (emphasis mine, reformatted):

Members of the Columbus, Ohio-based Service Employees International Union Local 1 have gone on strike over recent job cuts by a janitorial company called Professional Maintenance.  The reason for the cuts?  The employer says it is because of the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. This is ironic since SEIU is a major supporter of the law.

Major supporter is a misnomer – it, of all the unions working on getting this passed, the SEIU was most responsible.  I think it fair to say that if the SEIU had NOT worked on the politics of this, it never would have passed.  They advocated, they cajoled, they campaigned, they threatened – they own it.  And now, they are learning that phrase “Live by the Obamacare, DIE by the Obamacare.”  Just like when Congress found out that they were bound up in Obamacare, so is the SEIU.  Schadenfreude, baby!

Tyler French, Local 1’s organizing director, told Mediatrackers Ohio the company claimed it had to cut its employees’ hours due to Obamacare mandates.  French did not believe the explanation though, calling it the “latest excuse in a long line of many that we’ve seen from corporate America.” But others throughout the organized labor movement have warned that such actions will be a direct consequence of the President Obama’s health care law. At the AFL-CIO’s convention in Los Angeles earlier this month, Loretta Johnson, secretary-treasurer of the American Federation of Teachers, said it was already happening in her union. “We are seeing employer after employer cut hours so as to avoid the 30-hour definition of a full-time job,” Johnson said. The AFL-CIO passed a resolution demanding either Congress or Obama fix the law to stop it from hurting union members.

Tyler, you moron – really, going on strike over what the law actually says? You only have yourself to blame, dude.  Did you really think that employers weren’t going to adapt to changes in YOUR law??  And like the “French Fry” strike a couple of weeks ago, do you really think going on strike is really going to get you anything other than layoffs?

Sidenote: Zandra Rice-Hawkins – now of Granite State Progress – too, wanted us all to take care of this person , challenged me to obey my own rule book and demanded that I take this picture down.  Ah yes, she took away my virginity with respect to getting Alinsky’d by the Left (RULE 4:Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules).  She tried, she failed, and I’ve been pointing out what a bad decision it was for the Country to have elected the Progressives to Congress that foisted this Socialist wet dream of an entitlement in using this picture ever since.
