Carol Shea-Porter's Little Elf - Granite Grok

Carol Shea-Porter’s Little Elf

From Seacoast Online – Letter to the EditorCarol Shea-Porter's Little Elf

Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter’s op-ed last week left me incredulous that someone who has been in Congress four out of the last six years would point out deficiencies in today’s America as though it was not a reflection on her and her party. The Democrat Party has held control over two of the three branches of government since 2007, and Rep. Shea-Porter makes it sound like a little elf came in the middle of the night and diminished the standard of living in the United States and caught everyone by surprise.

/snicker (emphasis mine)

I’m a bit surprised that Komrade Karol is harping on diminished lifestyles.  Didn’t anyone tell her Obama was giving a speech on how great the recovery has been?  Those two things don’t exactly go together.  Maybe Carol missed a party meeting or grabbed talking points from 2008 by mistake?  I mean c’mon, after four or five “recovery summers” we should have so many jobs there aren’t even enough amnestied (sp?) illegals to fill them.

I didn’t read Che-Porter’s letter, by the way, the one referenced by Portsmouth resident Sue Polidura in the excerpt above.  Did Carol happen to mention how high gas prices have been over the past five years, double what they were back when Democrats took over the entire government?  It has been a six-year fiscal-sink sucking up the disposable income of “Hard Working American Families™ .”   Making things we need cost more as a matter of policy, lowers everyone’s’ standard of living, even when Democrats do it.

How about high energy prices caused by ideological tunnel vision?  Did she mention that?  Slowing or stopping the production and use of cheap, abundant, natural resources that pay their own way versus expensive, inefficient boondoggles that fail even after being pumped to the brim with hundreds of billions of dollars in borrowed money, harvested from the livelihoods of children from future generations, most of whom have have not yet been born; that is Democrats lowering peoples standard of living before they are even living.   Who hates oil and coal?  Who refuses to approve the Keystone pipeline?  Who is adding energy taxes to the growing price of basic electric services?  Who is turning to battery technologies that rely almost entirely on minerals from countries hostile to the US?  Democrats.  And proudly.

Food inflation is kind of a bitch as well.  Breakfast cereal, for example, is about 30–40% more expensive than when the Democrats first took complete control of the government.  My food bill has almost doubled, taking away income I used to use on other things that stimulated the economy and improved my standard of living, while creating opportunities for others to improve their own.   But you have to eat.  You need to heat your home, and use electricity.   Democrats made them cost more so now I, and many others, are forced to live with less becasue thanks to Democrats, those things cost a lot more.

Wages have been dismal, if you are lucky enough to have one, which puts a fair share of the burden for an economy water-boarded repeatedly by the bureaucratic stylings under years of Democrat rule, on a dwindling resource dwindled by Democrats.  Add this to the previous problems and “standard of living’ is out cold while Clueless Carol looks down in wonder.

Thanks to Karol Che-Porter and six years of Democrat majority government the American dream now consists of getting a part-time job with no benefits, maybe two of them, because employers can’t afford both employees and benefits anymore under the ever-increasing weight of a corpulent bureaucracy that can never be allowed to participate in Michelle Obama’s anti-obesity campaign.

These lucky folks can look forward to being trapped in the regulatory maw of Democrat Care, describing their sex life to their dermatologist (while we still have those)–becasue the law says they have to ask–as it eats away at access and quality.

Access is already suffering as the folks forced out of work by Democrat policies are herded like cattle into fewer participating hospitals by other Democrat policies.  Yes, Carol, quality of care will suffer.   There will be a shortage of doctors, nurses, people in every medical profession; Congress won’t work for less and less so guess what, neither will anyone else.  As costs eat at payroll, then services, as they must, because the bureaucracy will be spending all the money that used to go to research, care, and staff, care will decline.

More people will stop working because their time will be worth as much or more if they do nothing and feed at the welfare through Democrats have laid out before them.  That means less workers feeding the bureaucracy, less money to pay for free everything, including single-payer coverage, supplies, people and facilities.

You think the standard of living is in danger?   Wait until we are few years into government managed Democrat Care.    Living will be in decline.

I know, I know, all that time Democrats held congress, and throughout their continued strangle-hold on the  Senate and the Presidency–under a President who does his own ‘legislating’ without congress–they’ve been busy making money worth less, investing cost more, and hiring more expensive.  They have forced bizarre rules on employers that make running a business cost more than more.  And then there is that Health Care thing that nobody wanted but elected Democrats, their big business cronies, unions–who are now in a tizzy over how they were fooled and then screwed, and stupid college kids who never put 2 and 2 together–which adds up to trillion from them to pay for it.  A plan no Republicans voted for.  A plan that has made running that same business even more (and more and more…) expensive.

Every bill before and after Democrat Care  has been labeled as a so-called jobs program; jobs for government employees to manage the bureaucracy is more like it, which actually reduces the resources in the free market for jobs needed to pay for the government jobs that are eating up all the resources.  No one in their right mind could start a business under this regulatory climate unless they were getting a few billion tax payer dollars as a favor for supporting some Democrat for elected office, but given the track record that will still fail, and they’ll just pocket enough to live on while they get a consultancy job showing folks with no skill other than chicanery how to get rich off taxpayers with no money down.

Yes, Carol is as clueless as ever.  Shea-Porter observing, from her job in the richest part of the nation (in DC), that the standard of living has declined, is like the person who is standing on your chest observing that you can’t seem to get off your back.

She is more than happy, I presume, to blame her opponents for all of this, even though they are feckless political cuckolds, neutered by the press and identity politics, who are just hoping the Democrats stumble long enough to take over the ‘keeping us on our backs’ routine.  Republicans in congress, with but a few exceptions, are just other members of the elite political class on queue for their turn at piloting our American Titanic into a debt iceberg that has nearly doubled since way back when candidate Carol was crying at town-halls about out of control spending and the unsustainable debt problem.

Apparently, the problem was not that is was too big, but that it was too damn small.  The Democrats went and ‘fixed’ that “problem.”  But we still have our problem and she goes by the name of Carol Shea-Porter,  the Democrat parties Big government representative to New Hampshire, who is clearly no less a party creature than she ever was.

But isn’t that what you look for from your political courtier?  Predictability.  And since Carol has her guaranteed government taxpayer funded wages an benefits for life now, in office our out, why should she care if the rest us have to eat cake…

…served by little elves, perhaps?
