Public Hearing on Medicaid Expansion In NH Today – What You Need to Know

It is not about state spending, Healthy states are about libertyNew Hampshire should not expand Medicaid. Hospitals will lose hundreds of millions of dollars and Taxpayers will be burdened with billions in unfunded mandates.  At least that is what the results of the NH Department of Health and Human Services own study determined.

…an analysis from the Lewin Group, a prominent health care consulting firm, finds that if New Hampshire expands Medicaid, Granite State hospitals will actually lose $228 million in revenue over the next seven years.

and…

While expanding Medicaid will cost New Hampshire billions of dollars in unfunded liabilities, the expansion would only reduce the number of uninsured individuals in the state by 22,300. A larger number would be moved out of higher-quality, private insurance, and into the dysfunctional Medicaid program.

This is from an analysis of the NH DHHS study.  It is how they are supposed to base their own consideration.   Easy enough.  Not right for New Hampshire.

It creates more dependents on Federal dollars.  It moves people off private insurance onto the abysmal Medicaid system.  It will cost us doctors, access, and our hospitals who are already supposedly struggling to operate–if you listen to the Democrats–will lose more money.  It makes us less self-responsible and more reliant on a federal government that can’t afford to keep any of its promises as it is.  When the federal belt has to tighten, and that day is coming soon, the full weight and cost of these programs will fall in New Hampshire.

Not right for New Hampshire.

Minnesota based Granite State Progress is apparently holding a rally in front of the state house today.  Progress Now, which runs Granite State Progress, whose mission is to advance progressivism and progressive socialist policy in every state in the nation,  wants the train wreck of Democratcare–and Medicaid expansion is a critical feature they need in place to make more Granite Staters dependent on the Federal Government instead of New Hampshire or just each other.

Someone should ask them why they are supporting a plan that would cost New Hampshire hospitals hundred of millions and where that money will come from if they get their way?  It won’t come from Progress Now or Minnesota or Colorado.  It won’t come from the Feds, they are on “borrowed time’ as it is.  It will come out of New Hampshire Taxpayers, higher rates, higher medical costs, and probably higher taxes.  And that is before the unfunded mandate hammer falls and diverts tons of other resources away from everything else after we’ve been pummeled with the cost increases.

Women, childern, veterans, retirees, the mentally disabled, education, roads and bridges, local budgets will lose pension support and rooms and meals revenue adding more tax burden,  just about everything will have to give up something to help offset the costs of a massive new entitlement that medicaid expansion will inevitably place on us for little or no benefit–a 1.7% improvemnt in the number insured.  You’re telling me we get those results on our own for a fraction of the cost?  It would cost millions and maybe billions less over the long haul to just cover catastrophic need from inside the state without the false promises and burdensome federal regulations.

So ss Granite State Progress, their out of state paymasters, Governor Maggie Hassan, and the entire New Hampshire Democrat party prepared to sacrifice all of that, now and in all future years, just so they can have a new federal expansion, complete with more uninteligible incompetence, burdensome  expensive bureaucracy, all of which will cost more and deliver less year after year while punshing every other group for whom they have been grinding their tiny little axes all these years?

They are more than willing.  Bigger government, top down control, these are the things that matter most to Democrats.  Cost, access, quality, affordability, local control, caring for the needy…these are words and ideas they use but have no interest in.  We know this to be true because what they want will do exactly the opposite and always has.   They want to make us more dependent on the Federal Government.  They want to put us on the progressive plantation fom which there is little chance of escape.  And they will say and do anything to make that happen.
