It’s Kind of Like Constitutional Carry

Having happily reported on last week’s New Hampshire State Supreme court decision regarding the meaning of ‘with’ as regards a weapon loaded or not; having then interviewed Evan Nappen not two days later on the same issue; we are happy to report that with a bit of a twist, New Hampshire now has, sort of, kind of, …almost, constitutional carry.

Evan Nappen put it like this…I’m paraphrasing.Gun Rights prevent rape

Because of the clarification in the definition of a loaded weapon, and the fact that has always been legal to carry an unloaded weapon concealed, it is now possible to carry your weapon concealed and unloaded, with the loaded magazine near at hand, without having to acquire a permit.

Were you to find yourself in a circumstance where lethal force in your defense was necessary, you could put your clip into your weapon, which is no longer concealed when you load it and chamber a round (open carry of a loaded weapon is legal in New Hampshire).

It’s not perfect.  It is not true constitutional carry, but it close. And it might be close enough to give the liberal Democrats the shakes, cause them to project spittle when they try to speak, and Give Joe “We should take another look at Stand Your Ground” Foster the heebie-jeebies.

Law abiding gun owners should cheer.   It is not very often a court reads a law and manages to see the simple and the obvious. We should not expect this trend to continue, but we should applaud it while we have it.
