I dream of Jeannie Shaheen too – and Carol Shea-Porter, Annie Kuster, and Kelly Ayotte and it’s still a nightmare.

Ladies (you who now belong to the DC Ruling Political Class),

I bet you all are so relieved – that you and your staffers have all been relieved of the burden of sharing in the “shared sacrifice / responsibility” (as a President of oft to say) of Obamacare and joining with the rest of us in being responsible for paying “your fair share”.  Must be nice to be able to not have to be subjected to, once again, yet another law to which the rest of us are subject to and you all are not.   Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Congresswomen Carol Shea-Porter and Annie Kuster, it must fill you with joy to see that, at least for you and your employees, the Progressive Holy Grail of a single payer system has come true.  The unfortunate “fact” is that it isn’t the Government that is the “single-payer” – it is all of us that pay taxes that are paying for you.  And paying for the State workers.  And the County level workers.  And the local level as well.

And finally, paying for ourselves. It’s us – at the bottom of what, more and more, seems like the Pyramid of Power that have that burden. Alone.  Seems to be the mantra lately – Government which is supposed to be our public servants seems to come before those you are supposed to serve.  By the Ruling Class. One would have to think “is this by design” if one was a cynical sort of fellow.

I am wondering, with that said and aside, being law makers and supposedly role models for our young’uns and all, how you can defend that you folks (at least Jeanne and Carol who actively wrote and passed the law), are supposed to know what’s in it, why you aren’t defending it?  After all, the Office of Personnel and Management made this ruling that the Federal Government would pay for you and yours when it is absolutely contrary to the perfectly clear Grassley amendment to the Obamacare Law that effectively said “what the citizens are subject to, so are we here in Congress“?  After all, there are a ton of laws and regulations which you, the Ruling Class, have excepted yourselves from what the rest of us must follow

So, what do you say to those of us, watching our tax dollars flow upward out of our wallets to you folks up high in the atmospheric heights of Congress (hmm, does that also mean oxygen deprived air as well – that could explain SOME things…)?  Why are you not fighting this?  For if you will not fight to do the right thing, defend the Rule of Law, even if you don’t agree with it – why should we? By remaining silent, you show your complicitness in this undermining of what you do in DC.

Less this be seen as a partisan slinging of mud – it just happens that 3 of the 4 of you are Democrats – so why haven’t I heard anything from Kelly condemning this?  I am on your email list – did I miss something?  But none of you have condemned this, said that this was plain wrong, wrote that it smack of corruption, or refused to participate in this extremist insider payoff of Crony Politics of Insiders – nada, nein, zippo.  Is this why New Hampshire sent you – to collect goodies and protect yourselves at our expense?

Instead, why didn’t you become inscensed,  do your jobs and actually legislate a change to the bill instead of, yet again, handing your responsibility over to the Executive Branch and taking the weasel way out (as there has been much grumbling over this for months)?  Why won’t you ALL take responsibility, go back for a redo, and make it right?  Or are you just simply cowards with respect to doing the right thing?  And if this is the case, why should New Hampshirites send cowards back for additional terms?

Maybe we should be calling Washington DC by its real name: Elysium, where like the movie, where the rich and powerful enjoy a life of perks that most of us can’t even dream of (even as we are paying for it). Must be nice, being the Ruling Class.

I await your answers (even as I see even more hikes in my own healthcare now that you all have been freed from the burden you have set upon me).

Kindest Regards,

-Skip
