Data Point – How come we keep paying so MUCH and get LITTLE in Education?

Cost vs Achievement Trends in American Public SchoolsIf this was out in the private sector, the Edu-Industrial Complex would be in dutch with the Better Business Bureau, every TV watchdog / consumer advocate would have a mic stuck in the face of every headmaster, and to be truthful, they’d be the target of Obama-like Community Organizers circling the building at every School Board meeting.  But this is the Public Sector – when major cities have high school graduation rates from 45 – 65% (like Obama’s hometown in Chicago, home of one of the most expensive Teachers Unions in the country as well as one of the worst graduation rates, all we hear is “how dare you attack the hard-working teachers”?  Well, just look at the results.

This is indicative of the problem (and yes, I have put similar charts up before, sadly, with little positive changes to show):

(H/T: The Corner) BTW, go read the article about HEAF – one way to do Education right.  But there are also more dismal Public Education results as well.
