Two quick thoughts – Donna Brazile is wrong, and then is wrong again.

Brazile was the former campaign manager for my former (when I lived in MA growing up) Democrat Governer Michael Dukakis when he ran for President and got sliced and diced electorally.  She’s now considered to be a Voice, Strategist, and Consultant in the Democrat Party as well as a talking head and syndicated columnist.  She had one such post over at CNN on the Zimmerman-Martin verdict and two things struck me as being quite inflammatory, wrong – and indicative of that section of society:

First, those who delight in the verdict are wrong. There is no winner here. Trayvon Martin is still dead and George Zimmerman still must live with the fact that he killed without reason or cause. Here, the “should have” rules: He should have stayed in the truck.

If I have the facts right, he was heading back to his truck, having done nothing physically to Martin, when Martin hauled off and hit him in the nose (some say Martin broke it).  Then after a scuffle, 6’1″ Martin was doing the MMA mamba on the smaller and out-of-shape Zimmerman’s head.  The verdict rendered proved Zimmerman was simply defending himself against a superior strengthed” / skilled opponent – and losing badly.  He shot in self-defense and not as a case of ‘profiling’ or as a hate crime.  That is HARDLY “he killed without reason or cause“.  This is nothing more than continuing, IMHO, a meme that has no basis in fact.

Those who expect — perhaps desire — a riot are wrong. We are better than that. We respect the law. While the law cannot force a person to be moral or tolerant, through the law we can demand respect and expect equality.

Really?  I’m aghast!  From one of the Progressive leading lights in the Democrat party, is this a denunciation of one of the primary tenets of Progressivism?  That the ordinary Man can be “enlightened” to a higher plane of being in order to achieve a Progressive Heaven on Earth?  That she finally agrees with our Founders – is she finally seeing the light and is will to come over to the Conservative side?

Sigh – I doubt it.  Still, I must remember to send NH State Rep Leigh Webb (D) (he of “The role of government is to legislate behavior“) a condolence as he’s lost a philosophical acolyte.
