Seeking Divine Democrat Intervention

If you allow a Christian moral code to drive your life it won’t be long before some secular-humanist decides that what you really want is a theocracy. Given this lack of intellectual agility we should then not be at all surprised when the same people, more often than not willful denizens of the Progressive Plantation, encourage the political Gods in DC to do their regulatin’ for them.  Put another way; if you can’t get it passed at the state level get er done from DC.

It’s the Democrat Party equivalent of divine intervention.  Thou shalt not let the state legislature stop you from having what you are certain is best for everyone else even if they don’t want it.   In this instance we refer to automated license plate readers.  The New Hampshire State Legislature tabled the bill sponsored by Democrat Deputy Dawg Stephen Shurtleff, citing privacy concerns.

So did Shurtleff or some other New Hampshire Democrat call the Democrat parties representative to New Hampshire, Carol Shea-Porter, to get done by Federal commandment what could not be done at the State level?

Shea-Porter has co-sponsored a federal level bill that would require the cameras in all states.  Oddly enough, New Hampshire is the only state that does not happen to have and use them already.  So here we have a Federal bill that would only really affect the one state that does not have these cameras, proposed by a New Hampshire Congressperson, shortly after a Democrat sponsored bill failed to pass in the state legislature.

This is what we call Seeking Divine Democrat Intervention.  Shurtleff or some other progressive can’t stand the fact that it didn’t pass.  He or they know better.  So you get a Federal law that overrides the will of the state legislature, and then at some later point you expand its reach.  If that fails, you then bring it before someone like NH Judge John Lefty Lewis, who by judicial fiat expands the law for them.

Shea-Porter’s bill would “require’ that data be dumped after 30 days unless there was an ongoing investigation, but the cops could collect and store everyone’s license plate data anywhere and everywhere they wanted.  And as I’ve pointed out, that 30 day limitation is merely a feature designed to justify invoking the force of federal law on the entire nation—the 30 day limitation would be the only “change” that applied to the other states who already use these cameras, for what appears to be a bill whose sole purpose is forcing the last state to use what New Hampshire’s own State legislators have already said no to.

Shea-Porter is spinning it as a way to protect people’s privacy, but the reality is that she is just using Federal tyranny at the behest of state-level Democrats to get done what they could not.  Since every other state has the camera’s already, the odds of this not passing appear slim. The 30 day limit on retaining data is no real barrier, so odds are good Shurtleff will get his law passed by Federal fiat and screw the will of the Granite State’s elected representatives.

So unless the state has or passes a bill banning or prohibiting such cameras, essentially nullifying the likley federal law by force of state soverignty, you should expect that some day soon, that we’ll have them here thanks to divine Democrat intervention.
