I recently reiterated my oft-said point on GrokTALK! this week that you can’t be a principled Republican and support unions; voting against Right to Work for example mandates employee funding of the Democrat machine and everything it tries to destroy. And Obama Care was just the biggest, most recent example. Unions were all in. They spent millions on Democrats, ran a ground game, even counter-protested TEA Party opposition across the nation, including here in New Hampshire.
We tried to warn them. But they didn’t listen. They put ideology before principle, heck, before history, math, and even common sense. They took the Blue pill–the blissful ignorance of illusion. But the reality of what Obama Care will really do has finally come home to roost with the Union leadership boys and girls. Nothing is free. Someone or somehow “IT” has to paid for. And the Union Leadership has discovered that Obama Care is NOT good for American Workers.
To quote Morpheus from the Matrix, “Welcome to the real world.”
Here is an excerpt from a letter to Democrat Party leaders form Union Leadership…WSJ.
Like millions of other Americans, our members are front-line workers in the American economy. We have been strong supporters of the notion that all Americans should have access to quality, affordable health care. We have also been strong supporters of you. In campaign after campaign we have put boots on the ground, gone door-to-door to get out the vote, run phone banks and raised money to secure this vision.
Now this vision has come back to haunt us.

First, the law creates an incentive for employers to keep employees’ work hours below 30 hours a week. Numerous employers have begun to cut workers’ hours to avoid this obligation, and many of them are doing so openly. The impact is two-fold: fewer hours’ means less pay while also losing our current health benefits.
Second, millions of Americans are covered by non-profit health insurance plans like the ones in which most of our members participate. These non-profit plans are governed jointly by unions and companies under the Taft-Hartley Act. Our health plans have been built over decades by working men and women. Under the ACA as interpreted by the Administration, our employees will treated differently and not be eligible for subsidies afforded other citizens. As such, many employees will be relegated to second-class status and shut out of the help the law offers to for-profit insurance plans.
And finally, even though non-profit plans like ours won’t receive the same subsidies as for-profit plans, they’ll be taxed to pay for those subsidies. Taken together, these restrictions will make non-profit plans like ours unsustainable, and will undermine the health-care market of viable alternatives to the big health insurance companies.
If you didn’t all have your heads up the asses of Obama and the Democrat Party leadership, panting at their leg like some lost dog looking for another free bone, you’d have taken the time to read the stinking bill and worked out the consequences in advance. If you were not so busy blindly turning their talking points into action on the ground, in near blind-faith, this barely passed train wreck never would have made it out of congress.
But you had to get your guy a signature policy win, and after he and the Democrat majority Congress gave the Unions all that money up front in the stimulus, you felt you owned them another favor.
Actions have consequences. Elections have consequences. Being a shill has consequences.
Don’t be surprised if they pander to you for a bit and then leave your workers swinging in the wind. That’s what they’ve been doing to the black community. They are doing it to women, and now gays, and they are making progress with Hispanics. Democrat leadership only cares about political power. As long as you play your part they will continue to use anyone they can get their hands on to accomplish their goal. They don’t care about your “issues,” or your “rights,” or your concerns except when they can use you the things as stage props, talking points, or narratives, to create wedges and leverage in pursuit of power.
You were played. You were not alone. Or were you?
Union leadership has done their new part for the memebership. They wrote a letter. They’ll have a meeting, maybe get some short term concessions, special consideration; I’m talking about union leadership not Union members, not the actual workers. Socialist progressive rule requires a top down executive with law making and unmaking authority, a few billionaire corporate capitalists, and powerful paid-for union leaders all of whom answer to the State. Government “replaces them” as needed, using their spying aparatus to keep everyone at heel for as long as they are useful, and then dissapearing them via a negative press blitz that pulls them down, charges of illegal activity, maybe they have an accident… This ensures the two class system where the ruling class lives well at th hands of the state and lies to the working class about their ‘Struggle’ and how they are working to help them.
They are, of course, the ones working to ensure that you have to struggle. If you read some history, dropped the ideologial Donkey-colored glasses, and observed the arc of our descent, you’d have figured it out by now. Obama Care is just another left-wing laser pointer and you are all cats. And the game never ends unless you do somethign different.
So the real question is…are you more concerned about your “workers,” your tax free stream of revenue (fewer hours less money for dues, union power, etc), or your toe-hold in the ruling class?
