If Ann Kuster Wants to Be Startling, Maybe Instead of Pandering She Should Try This…

Congressperson Carol Shea-Kuster, Ann McLane Porter, Annie “Grabbed your Camera Kuster”… I’ll just go back to calling her McKluster, posed for a picture (no I do not believe she snatched the camera away or said F.You to the photographer) which she has reportedly had posted on her facebook page.   (Concord Monitor Lizard)

Most of the photographs used by politicians to promote themselves are tiresome in the extreme: the dark suit, the carefully coiffed hair, the frozen smile. In that context, the picture used these days by 2nd District Rep. Annie Kuster on her official Facebook page is all the more startling, refreshing and cool.

Kuster’s photograph shows her with a swatch of silver-gray duct tape covering her mouth. On her left cheek, in black and red paint, is the symbol “NOH8.” With her right hand, she has two fingers (Peace? Victory?) pointed at her temple.

I’m sorry Concord Monitor Lizard.  What exactly is so startling about a progressive rubber stamp pandering to one of her so-called victim classes?

The picture was part of a recent congressional photo shoot conducted by the NOH8 (No Hate) Campaign. The group, which promotes marriage equality, created the photo project as a silent protest in response to the passage of Proposition 8, the measure banning same-sex marriage in California and recently overturned by the Supreme Court. The photos feature subjects all with duct tape over their mouths, symbolizing their voices being silenced by the California law and others like it.

When Democrats like Kuster do something really courageous, like stand up for Gay Republicans, or Gays who oppose abortion, when she has the guts to shout down the H8 that spews from the ‘good gay folk’ on the left every time they try to intimidate people or bully them….THAT will be startling, refreshing, and cool.

Until then, this is just the next clown act at the Liberal Circus.

And don’t expect Kuster to speak out like that anytime soon. When it comes to defending gay Republicans from attacks within her own party, she’s always got tape on her mouth.

The Monitor Lizard editorial, by the way, titled “Kuster’s Photo is worth at least 1000 words ” wasn’t even worth 500 words.  So it really was only half the story.
