Gun Grabbers Tracking Gun Owners With New Android App

Brett Stalbaum of University of California at San Diego created the Gun Geo Marker App for Android

As Reported on Fox News yesterday, A new Android app asks users to expose the home addresses of gun owners they deem “potentially unsafe” — and share that information with the world.

The Gun Geo Marker app, a lecturer with the Visual Arts department of the University of California, San Diego, is the creator of this Android app. Geo Gun marker was released to Google’s Play app store this past Sunday.  The app invites users to mark the homes and businesses of “suspected unsafe gun owners … to help others in the area learn about their geography of risk from gun accidents or violence.”

Stalbaum, tells Fox News he has received threats over the app and says…

“The gun rights community has been busy making personal threats (we remain unconcerned), as well as spamming the Gun Geo Marker database with false markers. Though these fake markers are not useful for identifying dangerous guns and owners, they are certainly representative of the highly paranoid reaction we have come to expect from any attempt to improve gun safety in the United States. This kind of reaction — automatically lining up on the wrong side of reasonable measures to improve the safe use and ownership of guns — aids and abets the crisis of child shooting deaths,”

Featured and presented  as a mere tool to collect information, Stalbaum and his app have been barraged with a firestorm of negative reviews and comments from those concerned the app could do more harm than good.

In January, the Journal News published an interactive map, publishing home addresses of residents who had permits to own guns and an outcry arose immediately thereafter.  After threats were called into Journal News offices and the home addresses of editors were posted online, The Journal News took down their data.

Commenting on the app to Fox News, Professor John G. Lott had this to say:

“I’ve debated a lot of gun control advocates over the years, and I’ve never met someone who has been willing to put up a sign in front of their house indicating that their home is a gun-free zone,”

Stalbaum goes on to tell Fox News, “As a gun owner myself, I want to see our rights preserved, and thwarting the will of 90 percent of the American people who want common sense, Constitutional measures to improve gun safety is mathematically unwise.”

Professor Lott’s comment is telling. In truest form to the day, Gun Grabbers clearly want the whole world to know “Who” has the guns and are willing to publish that information against the will or consent (advocacy of Gun Registries) of those who own the guns. At the same time none…no, not one…is willing to post a sign on the front lawn of their private homes declaring his or her domain as a “Gun Free Zone.” There should be an app for that! If a person is so stridently vocal against the second amendment, fair play would be an app to declare those homes  gun free zones. Intuitively, I think they all would howl in protest, claiming some kind of privacy right has been offended.

While Stalbaum declares himself a gun owner, surely folks cannot possibly take him seriously. Since the Newtown Massacre the war on the second amendment has raged on. Despite the volumes of data challenging, discrediting and showing that the very changes Stalbaum and his anti-gun cronies seek, those measures do absolutely nothing to improve gun safety. Yet, they still cling to and advocate for the same anti-gun measures, and spout the same anti-gun rhetoric in Zombie-like fashion. “common sense, Constitutional measures to improve gun safety…” typical liberal speech code for gun control.

Examining the tone and context of Stalbaum statements, Stalbaum’s choice of words and thesis statement declares his own assumption and belief that he is on the correct side of the gun issue while gun owners are completely on the wrong side in a typical Hegelian dialectical fashion. Where the assumption is that all gunowners are unsafe.

“The Gun Geo Marker is a simple gun-safety project that enables parents and neighbors to understand their geography of risk.”

“Geography of Risk.” That is how Stalbaum characterizes law abiding neighbors who own guns. entries can be made “anonymously” and gun owners can be characterized any way the person making the entry chooses to characterize them—all of which is irrespective of that gun owning citizen following all laws to own guns.

This Gun Geo Tracker is nothing more than an anti-gun, anti-second amendment bigoted labeling tool. There lies no accountability for the information submitted to the app. Ultimately, the tool will serve only to harass those who exercise their second amendment right.
