Frank Guinta should have had her stones for this kind of issue

Obamacare -Year of the SnakeStill mad over Guinta’s failure to live up to his promise to cut spending when he was in the US House and did vote for the Continuing Resolutions that increased spending – and our debt.  He got cold feet – what, me voting in such a way that the Government might shutdown from a lack of increased debt?  And then losing my job here in Congress?  Enough people here in NH were infuriated over those votes so as to NOT vote for him this last time.  While all kinds of Establishment Republicans have excoriated me  for pointing that out over and over again, I don’t care.  I want Republicans that I can vote for that I can TRUST – that they will have the CONSISTENCY in their actions in DC that they said they’d have while they campaigned.  Mad?  Yeah, I spent a lot of “capital” fer nuttin.  Don’t lie to me – I don’t forget.

US Senator Mike Lee, one of the Senates new Conservative firebrands, does not care what anyone says about him.  Why?  Up to now, like his compatriot Ted Cruz, it looks like his first and only concern is what ALL of the Congressional Chuckleheads should be each and every day: is what we are about to vote on Constitutional according to original intent?  Does this law protect or increase individual Liberty?  Or does it incrementally continue to move that Overton Window towards a larger and more intrusive Top-Down Federal  Govt (exactly what Progressives want in their neo-Feudalism “Utopia”)?  He has a letter to Senate Leadership to defund Obamacare.  Stones, he’s gotPolitical courage – yepTed Cruz has a bill to defund it all together (stones, he’s got’em too). They are doing what Guinta should have done – write the bill, get it passed (and yes, his NH comrade during his time there was useless – but we expected that of Mr. Main Street Progressive Charlie Bass).

Obamacare is not about mandatory health insurance (as it has forever fundamentally transformed the definition of “insurance” to merely being both a healthcare payment plan / wealth redistribution scheme.  It forever changes the dynamic of Government / citizen in the opposite way this country started out to be – it will (along with other Obama initiatives) destroy the notion of American Exceptionalism.  It will only be a memory that we’ll talk about to our grandkids.

Mike Lee, Ted Cruz – and one NH CongressCritter as well!  Stones, m’lady, Stones you got on this one!

Right now, the tally at RedState:

ON BOTH THE LEE LETTER AND THE TED CRUZ BILL TO DEFUND:

Cornyn,  Cruz, Enzi, Fischer, Grassley, Inhofe, Lee, Paul, Risch, Rubio, Vitter, Wicker

ON LETTER, NOT ON BILL:

Chiesa, Kirk, Thune

ON BILL, NOT ON LETTER:

Alexander, Ayotte, Barrasso, Blunt, Boozman, Burr, Chambliss, Graham, Heller, Isakson, Johanns, McConnell, Moran, Roberts, Scott, Toomey

It would be better to see Kelly’s name on both the Letter and the Bill, but if you have to pick one, I’d much rather see it on the Bill which could have some use.

Now, would it have been better to have had this bill, pinned to those Continuing Resolutions last cycle, in the House?  Sure?  After 37 single bills to repeal Obamacare, where has that effort ended up?  Repeal is nice, but was nothing but a political statement or stunt.  Real teeth, real results – if you have the stones.

Polls say that Obamacare is even more unpopular now than then – make it hill to die on for if they don’t, Liberty and the Founders vision for us will die as well.  Give her an attaboy for trying – we just did.

And for those who are afraid more for their political careers than for the Constitution, we have plenty of these to send:
