Agenda 21 – Any Way You Spell It

Circumscribing your life - Agenda 21
Circumscribing your life – Agenda 21
Next month, Mar-Mar and I are attending a niece’s wedding in the small Sussex town of Lewes. Located near the south coast of England, and nestled against the South Downs (hills), Lewes is rich in history and surrounded by picturesque villages and rolling farmland.

I looked up the town hall, and was amazed when the first thing which popped up on the page was a picture of Councillors and ‘Planning Experts’ standing in the council chamber, proudly holding signs which spelled out “N-E-I-G-B-O-U-R-H-O-O-D- -P-L-A-N”….. SUCKERS!!

“Experts from the ‘South Downs National Park Authority’…” What!?! Last I remembered, the South Downs were just a pleasant rural area, but things have changed a bit since I lived nearby. Apparently, around the same time as our “Third Way” socialist President ‘Hornblower’ was working to introduce Agenda 21 into the USA, “Third Way” socialist Prime Minister Blair was selling the UK down the same river. Intrigued, I decided to read on…

The National Park Authority describes itself as:

The South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) is the organisation responsible for promoting the purposes of the National Park and the interests of the people who live and work within it.

There are 15 National Parks in the UK. Known as Britain’s Breathing Spaces, National Parks are areas of spectacular landscape that include mountains, meadows, moorlands, woods, coasts and wetlands. Mostly farmed landscapes supporting living, working communities, National Parks are areas of protected countryside that everyone can visit and enjoy.

As a National Park, the SDNPA has statutory purposes and socio-economic responsibilities as specified in the Environment Act of 1995.

To conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the area.
To promote opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the special qualities of the Park by the public.

Working in partnership with other Local Authorities and other organisations, it is also the duty of the Authority to seek to foster the economic and social well-being of the local communities within the National Park.

And look at the language from Lewes Town Council:

Experts from the South Downs National Park Authority joined Town Councillors in the Town Hall on Saturday 16th February, where they gave a short presentation followed by an open forum…..

A Neighbourhood Plan is a new type of plan, introduced by the government in 2011, which can set out a vision, aims, policies and proposals for future development of a neighbourhood. These plans can only be adopted following independent examination and a 50% ‘yes’ vote in a public referendum but; once agreed, the Plan forms part of the statutory development framework for the town and the local authority and planning inspectors have to take it into account when making planning decisions.

Neighbourhood Plans are about the use and development of land and can deal with a range of social, economic and environmental issues. They can be comprehensive, dealing with a wide range of issues, or they may have a more limited focus. They must conform to national planning policy and the Local Plan – Core Strategy, which has been developed in partnership between the South Downs National Park Authority and Lewes District Council.

I’ll bet those townsfolk and farmers used to think that they actually OWNED their property – SILLY people! Ultimate irony: The town of Lewes actually contains a Constitutional Club!!

Yes, folks, you SHOULD be paranoid – the planners are out to subvert your property rights worldwide!
