The Egyptian military has removed Mohammed Morsi as President and suspended the Constitution.  The head of the Constitutional Court will serve as an interim leader while new elections are scheduled.  The military also indicated that changes made to the Egyptian Constitution by Morsi would be rolled back.

The military has publicly announced its coup and instructed the people to continue their peaceful protests as credible leaders are gathered to form a more diverse government that represent all of the people.  Violent protests, however, will be met with force.

Interim President sworn in -warrants issued for the arrest of Muslim Brotherhood leaders

Adly Mansour, head of Egypt’s constitutional court was sworn in Thursday morning as the military issued arrest warrants for the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The swearing-in ceremony was broadcast live on Egyptian television. Mansour, 67, will serve as interim president replacing ousted Islamist President Mohammad Morsi.

Egypt’s general prosecutor on Thursday ordered the arrest of the top Muslim Brotherhood leaders, including Supreme Guide Mohammad Badie and his deputy Khairat el-Shater. They are being accused of inciting to violence.
