Publicly Funded EPA Man Caves

Escher Boxes- by Jud Guitteau

As Skip posted the other day regarding yet more IRS abuses, “…yet another reason WHY the Progressive ‘Larger Government is a Bigger Government’ is just so much hooey. Too many dark corners for malfeasance.”

Too many dark corners for malfeasance indeed, and these corners connect walls of corridors, cubicles, offices, warehouses… and Man Caves. Yes, Man Caves. You know, a sanctuary where males dwell peacefully while watching a game or video and nursing a beer, and maybe, occasionally, if we must, talk with friends.

Several Man Caves have been discovered occupying a 70,000 square-foot EPA warehouse. From Government Executive (really that’s a site):

“The warehouse contained multiple unauthorized and hidden personal spaces created by and for the workers that included televisions, refrigerators, radios, microwaves, chairs and couches,” the IG report said. “These spaces contained personal items, including photos, pin ups, calendars, clothing, books, magazines and videos.”

So, contractors are the inhabitants of the caves. Do you believe that only contractors came up with the idea? Me neither. I can only guess how that happened.

The contractors, after soaking in the culture of a bloated bureaucracy suffused with torpid efforts of government workers that resemble the efforts that most of us feel after having way too much Thanksgiving dinner so we recline and lounge mustering barely enough energy to simply ask why the Lions are on again, asked themselves, “Hey, why not us? They’re leeching from the taxpayer. When in Rome, pilfer the Romans!  Let’s relax.”

I don’t believe it was only the contractors.  If there weren’t so many other scandels swirling around this “scandel-less” adminstration, I’d bet we’d hear more about the government lackeys seeking solace on our dime.

And apparently, it’s not just malfeasance but malodorous feces that mottled the darkened corners of Leviathan’s dwellings along with “pervasive mold”. The report continued, there were

“deplorable conditions” — such as corrosion, vermin feces and “pervasive” mold

Isn’t this the EPA, with a heavy emphasis on the “E” as in Environment, and in their own Environment was “vermin feces” and “pervasive mold”?  So not only do they run rough shod over the rest of us who pay their salaries and fine us so they can collect a record $252 million in fines in 2012 for, who knows, trying to build on our own property or using the wrong light bulb, they’re hosting Man Caves complete a nice plush carpet of mold.  Great, job if you can get it.

Dark corners of malfeasance, indeed. So many dark corners that they refract into an Escher painting of sprawling landscaped corners.
