Yo, Mr. VP? How about spitting in their eye? Really, who CARES what they think? - Granite Grok

Yo, Mr. VP? How about spitting in their eye? Really, who CARES what they think?

We aren’t them!  Or is this just the normal “I’m a politician and I feel vulnerable if not everyone likes me”?   I read stuff like this:

Vice President Joe Biden gave a heated speech on reducing gun violence this afternoon, lashing out at Republican senators who have vowed to filibuster the gun-control legislation. “It’s almost mind-boggling,” Biden said to law-enforcement officials in Washington, D.C.

He asked the senators to consider how their actions are being viewed by the international community: “In sophisticated capitals and in less-sophisticated capitals, they all reported on Sandy Hook, they all reported on Aurora.” “What do you think is being said today in those capitals about us?” the vice president asked. “Imagine what they’re saying, gentlemen and ladies, in other capitals around the world today.”

and I don’t know whether to scream or cry.  Who cares what they say?  Why is it that our leading politicians give the indication they are ashamed of their country (Obama’s Apology tour and now this)? Filibustering is part of the way that the Senate decided, according to the Constitution, to run itself.  Biden, after decades in the Senate, should know that.  Or staying with the Progressive meme, just another crass attempt at poking holes in the Constitution (I’d say like Swiss Cheese, but the Swiss are all armed)?  Why is it that our leaders wish to lower us (and yes, that is the proper word) to their level in not trusting their citizens (versus the Founders that trusted we Citizens – but not future (current?)  leaders not so much – by enshrining our previously existing Right to defend ourselves and our Free State).

Why should we care what they think, VP Biden?  We are still the richest country in the world (in Civil Society even as the politicians have run the Federal Government into the toilet), we still are the most powerful, and ostensibly, the freest (although a lot of the surveys coming out are indicating otherwise).  Why is it that we are supposed to emulate them, even as we “better” than they?  Why is it that we are supposed to cast off the Founding philosophies that made this country great, the Exceptionalism that arose that we were a nation created on ideas rather than ethnicity or geography?  For what – a return to the Old World values that our ancestors ran from?  What is the point of that?  Why?  To return to a mode of living where, less and less, individual citizens have a chance in influencing their rulers?  How democratic, really, is the EU?

Is this just yet another case of the High And Mighty losing sight that we are different from all other countries – by design?  Or is it me, that being Constitutionally bound means that I am not “sophisticated”?  That I have not “evolved” from the foundation that has made us the greatest country the world has ever seen.

I make no claim that America has never had its flaws.  Unlike most countries that have the advantages of fairly homogenous populations and a sense of belonging based on place, we have done very well in correcting those flaws (and will continue to do so, I believe). All other things being equal (and as long as we can shake off the effects of being “fundamentally changed”), I’d rather have ours than theirs.

First step, I believe, in correcting more flaws is to change the top leadership.  It isn’t a case of moving to the Right to right our ship that is listing (yeah, small joke alert) to the Left, but going back down to our roots, back to OUR special brand of American governance – reading, absorbing, and having our elected and appointed officials breathing the Constitution – and having the rest of us Citizens doing the same and holding those we consent to govern us to that HIGH standard.

For that is truly what this is about – the low standard of Biden expressing what the Globalists desire (“let’s be like everybody else!”) versus the high standard of (and high level of effort to be) Free.
