Some Murders Are More Newsworthy Than Others

Children slaughtered by streaking lead projectiles, punched out of a menacing-looking barrel, wielded by an unhinged psychopath, is newsworthy.  Children slaughtered by other means is not, or so it seems.

The news that’s been visiting the nation endlessly for months now is about a white-skinned fruit-loop, hell-bent on slaughtering white children.  If he was seeking media attention, I suppose it’s a good thing for the Newtown psycho boy that he didn’t stroll into a hospital and replace his fiery hell with something more subtle on infants, because we’d never hear about it. But he didn’t; he used a gun on grade-schoolers.  Therefore, let loose the media spigots and on with the deluge.

We get it. Liberals don’t like guns and want to pretend that if they all go away, it’ll be rainbows and lollipops. I think that’s deluded, but it’s their opinion, and they’re not shy about expressing it.

So, it goes with Big Media news outlets in print, television, cable, etc. They are all peppered with stories of Newtown this and Newtown that.

Naturally, the politicians are even cashing in on it.

The administration flew in the Newtown families on Air Force One to be props for his political agenda last week, one of families even did Obama’s weekly address this week, and the woo-woo media bought it and peddled it on without question.  Just the other day, it was reported that Democrat Senator Richard Blumenthal used the massacre to raise funds for his 2016. There’s no end to the exploitation.

But, therein lies the key as to why it must stay in the public’s mind: “Political agenda”.  If it fits the liberal Democrat narrative, exploit it and sell it ad nauseum.  Trot out the bullhorns and loud speakers, crank up the cameras and the lachrymose, and let it roll. Thus, the Newtown deluge.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I think the Newtown killings, though a local news story, should be reported, but not because it provides political capital for an agenda, and that’s the reason I think we’ve been drenched by the effusion.

Don’t believe me?  Let’s juxtapose the coverage of Newtown with another story of the slaughtering of innocents–hundreds of them:  the Kermit Gosnell trial.  Haven’t heard of it?  Not surprised; most haven’t.  Here are a few excerpts from the Grand Jury report that should jar your memory in case it’s been expunged:

“This case is about a doctor who killed babies and endangered women. What we mean is that he regularly and illegally delivered live, viable, babies in the third trimester of pregnancy – and then murdered these newborns by severing their spinal cords with scissors.…

The ‘Women’s Medical Society’ … was the … name of the clinic operated in West Philadelphia, … by Kermit B. Gosnell, M.D. Gosnell …

… And scattered throughout, in cabinets, in the basement, in a freezer, in jars and bags and plastic jugs, were fetal remains….

…the business model, … was this: Gosnell catered to the women who couldn’t get abortions elsewhere – because they were too pregnant….

… Gosnell’s approach, whenever possible, was to force full labor and delivery of premature infants on ill-informed women…

There remained, however, a final difficulty. When you perform late-term “abortions” by inducing labor, you get babies. Live, breathing, squirming babies. By 24 weeks, most babies born prematurely will survive if they receive appropriate medical care… Gosnell had a simple solution for the unwanted babies he delivered: he killed them. … He called it ‘ensuring fetal demise.’ The way he ensured fetal demise was by sticking scissors into the back of the baby’s neck and cutting the spinal cord. He called that ‘snipping.’

Over the years, there were hundreds of ‘snippings’.”

That’s probably enough; you get the picture. If you have a hankering for melancholy, you can read the full jury report, but as you can imagine, it’s pretty gruesome.  I couldn’t make it through the lugubrious text.

So, does this case ring even the tiniest of bells?  It’s been going on for about a month now.

Naturally, given the villain is an abortionist, the right has been on this for a while.  However, not Big Media. And its absence in Big Media and Big Media’s absence in the courtroom is finally starting to gain attention, so much so that there are now two stories: the story of the monster, and the story of why the monster is being ignored.  The latter is coming from both the right and left.

So, back to my point. Let me ask you:  why do you think Big Lefty Media has been virtually silent?  Why has the slaughtering of 20 kids by guns made the news profusely (hint: liberals are anti-gun) , but the slaughtering of hundreds of children by the friendly neighborhood abortionist has not made the news (hint: liberals are pro-abortion, an especially crazed abortionist hurts their cause) ?

Why is it that, as Kirsten Powers reports, “A Lexis-Nexis search shows none of the news shows on the three major national television networks has mentioned the Gosnell trial in the last three months. The exception is when Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan hijacked a segment on Meet the Press …“?

You know why as well as I do.  It’s because there’s nothing to be gained politically for the liberals /Democrats.  That’s also why you don’t hear much about black on black violence in Democrat controlled cities.  So, it’s “nothing to see here, move along” lefty journalism exemplar du-jour.  Yeah, there’s no liberal bias in the media…right…
