As our Declaration declares (yeah, I know), the main purpose of Government is NOT to rule over us but to protect pre-existing Rights that come, not as a gift or as a decree from Government, but simply as an attribute of being a human. Thus, I have no problem in paying for a Limited Government that does exactly that, at the Federal level, and leaves me the heck alone the rest of the time. A government that protects me against the clutches of others – including Government. Nowhere in the Declaration or the Constitution does it say that Government is the scientist that gets to use us for social experimentation or that it is supposed to shove ‘guide’ us to some dystopian idea of their version of Utopia. So I pay, grudgingly. Like a skinflint. And I hope the people that spend it have the same outlook (like I tried to have when on my local Budget Committee). Sad to say, I doubt it (when often, on that same BudComm, I saw some act no different than a teenager with a “nothing on it” credit card that has their name on it). Like these folks:

No, I am not one of those people – IMHO, these people literally must have nothing better to do!
“Love or Like it?” I’m sorry, I don’t agree with any of the reasons listed here. Let’s be honest here: if you LOVE getting a refund, consider yourself really bad at math. This is not, like many LIT (Low Information Taxpayer) may think, Uncle Sam just feeling benevolent at the time your return came is. This is you not bothering to do the math on figuring out how much tax should be either be estimating (if you are in that category) or how much should be taken out of your pay. In fact, los federales are saying “well, THANK YOU for giving us an interest free loan for much of the year. Now, this is NOT to be confused with those folks who get money back due to the stupidly ill-named EIC (Earned Income Credit) where people get money back for not earning enough to support themselves for whatever reason. Like that story about illegal aliens here declaring their children back home (or, following Hillary’s lead, the Village) there. The sweet spot should be owing the Feds just a very small smidge (living in NH, I have no State or Local income taxes – take That you suckers in NY or CA or IL!) which means they aren’t mooching off you and, starting next year, avoiding the Obamacare “tax you because you breath” tax.
I, too, am not not bad at doing my taxes – I just can’t see paying somebody else a good chunk of cash to do what I can do for myself (as I doubt they’d take much less time to do it than me). I’m down to 4 forms and that ‘state of being’ that all I have to do is follow the template laid down by previous years (and even the numbers are similar).
Naw, I am not enamored of doing my taxes and no, it isn’t out of a misplaced sense of duty or fair share – it is merely the law to do so and with SUCH a progressive tax code and such items in there that folks have put in to smack nudge our behavior, there is nothing FAIR about it.
