“D” stands for “downshifting”

The choice is not between the governor’s budget and a better plan,” said Scott McGilvray, NEA New Hampshire’s president. “The choice is between Gov. Hassan’s budget, and one that slashes funding to our university system and shifts costs to already overburdened taxpayers ….”

Easy for Mr. McGilvray to say as, according to GuideStar.org, NEA’s past president, Rhonda Wesolowski, was paid $135,660 in salary plus an additional $58,962 in other compensation – one presumes he did not take a pay cut when he assumed the presidency.

But really, what is this guy smoking?  In HB 2, the first to get hit are ‘overburdened’ taxpayers; just like the Democrats did in 2009, they stick it towns (and the taxpayers who fund them – even the poor ones):

“1. Funds meals and rooms distributions to cities and towns for the biennium ending June 30, 2014 at no more than the fiscal year 2013 level of distribution.

2. Suspends RSA 31-A, relating to revenue sharing with cities and towns for the biennium ending June 30, 2015.”

But wait, there’s more. They then stick to to disadvantaged children and even foster grandkids:

‘3. Provides that no school building aid or alternative school building aid grants shall be made to school districts for projects approved on or after June 30, 2013 through June 30, 2014…

12. Suspends reimbursements to the foster grandparent program through the senior volunteer grant program.

65. Repeals the education tax credit against the business profits tax and the business enterprise tax.’

 And don’t forget smokers:

“77. Increases the rate of the tobacco tax.”

With friends like these, who needs “D”espots?
