And Now For the Ammunition Ban

“If there are twelve clowns in a ring, you can jump in the middle and start reciting Shakespeare, but to the audience, you’ll just be the thirteenth clown” —Adam Walinsky

McCarthy_LautenbergWe’ve talked a great deal these past months about a potential gun grab. What went sleepliy unnoticed was Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), and Rep. Carolyn McCarthy’s legislation introduced in July of last year, a bill to make the sale of ammunition “safer for law-abiding Americans”  who are sick and tired of the ease with which criminals can now anonymously stockpile ammunition for [sic] mass murder.

The bill these two champions of everything sans guns, was called,  “The Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act.” Kool-Aid Drinkers, McCarthy and Lautenburg claimed, “(This) will keep Americans safe by limiting the ability of people planning for mass murder to anonymously purchase unlimited quantities of ammunition through the Internet or other mail-order means.  Dealers would also be required to  report bulk sales of ammunition to law enforcement.

The bill HR6241 the original, “Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act” died last year in committee. The elections breathed new life into it, transforming it into the  “Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act of 2013” (HR6241), introduced on January 3, 2013. What will be the argument? “An online Ammunition sales ban…is a ban. Ammunition bans are gun bans.  Lets us hope this too dies in committee.
