GrokTV: NHListens / Granite State Future – Parts 8 and 9

And we start right in with Part 8:

  • continuing on the economy was a lady that asked the question “what is the next thing?” as if an entire State’s economy could be planned to succeed.  An older gentleman answered but I could not hear what he said, but true to form, The Enforcer went right after that.
  • One of the gentleman wanted to start a new business in NH but is hesitant due to the costs and regulatory headaches.
  • Two warring ideologies in the State: *I* built that vs Warrenism – “You didn’t build that” – is it individual effort or is it a community effort?

Part 9:

  • A couple of bon mots of what is hard about starting a business (start up capital, business environment).  Starting a successful business provides jobs and taxes
  • Getting people vested / working / “owning’ the community.  Kids won’t invest themselves into a community.  We need to TEACH them to live in a community.

Strange thought, that last one.  Kids DON’T think about a community outside of family and friends – most won’t figure that out until they become adults!

  • One suggestion: bring back apprentice system (which I thought wise), but “where would the money come from?” was another question.  One gentleman said “Keep the government out of it” to which one of The Enablers said “That would be going down to the bottom level” – it seems that some can ONLY see solutions coming from Government.
  • Everything is interconnected.

Yup, there’s that word – interconnected.  Funny, I heard that word from each of the circles within a two minute time span.  I find that hard to comprehend that this would happen randomly – not a freaking chance!
