Feds Gobble Up Ammo: Marines and Police Scrimp And Save

dhs_bullets-340x161First there were the stories about DHS buying 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition, for practice – perfectly innocent, they said. Steve explained that, even if the purchases were for practice, at normal rates of consumption, that would be sufficient for decades of practice, and besides, hollow point rounds are illegal in war, and an expensive waste for practice, so what do you think the targets would be?

Personal defense - SURE!
Personal defense – SURE!
(Scary-looking M16 pic for Libs)
Then there were the stories about DHS buying 7000 fully automatic assault rifles, you know, the kind that the Lamestream Media confuse with a repeating rifle. Why? To use up those “practice” rounds a little faster? Or for some form of domestic assault? As The Blaze reports, the DHS is seeking to purchase:

“Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) – 5.56x45mm NATO, select-fire (full-auto) firearm suitable for personal defense use in close quarters and/or when maximum concealment is required.” Additionally, DHS is asking for 30 round magazines that “have a capacity to hold thirty (30) 5.56x45mm NATO rounds.”

They can’t possibly NEED those, so why do they WANT them??
See Tom’s analysis here.

MRAPNext, we hear of the 2700 Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles (MRAPs) being bought by DHS and distributed around the USA – WHY? Do they think that if they push us far enough, the American people might resort to IEDs? (Calling Iran – I need some defensive weapons, stat!) Or is it just that the DHS “Civilian Army” can’t shoot straight, and they need to MRAPs to protect themselves from ricochets?!?

Of course, we wouldn’t have to speculate if Congress could get a straight answer out of Big Sis and the gang, but enquiries have been rebuffed, repeatedly.

FBI wants $100M of ammo??But that’s not all, even as scared citizens are stockpiling what they can get (it ain’t much), and local police forces are facing long waits to restock their ammunition, the Feds go on yet another buying spree, this time for the FBI, oh, and a little top-up for DHS! From Infowars and Breitbart:

While the Department of Homeland Security continues to ignore members of Congress demanding to know why the federal agency is engaged in an apparent arms build-up, the DHS has just announced it plans to purchase another 360,000 rounds of hollow point ammunition to add to the roughly 2 billion bullets already bought over the past year.

Marines starved for Ammo?
Marines starved for Ammo?
There are stories circulating that the Marines, think about it, THE MARINES, are running low on ammo, and are scrimping and saving, making every bullet count.

(Dear Taliban, due to ammo shortages, no warning shots will be fired!)

Police forces scrimping and saving, and even bartering with each other – CNS News:

The nationwide shortage of ammunition has left many police departments scrambling to get their hands on the necessary rounds – with some even bartering among each other.

OK-PolicePolice Chief Cameron Arthur of Jenks, Oklahoma says, “Ammunition and assault weapons in general have skyrocketed…In addition to the fact, not only is it a lot more expensive, but the time to get it could be six months to a year, or in some cases even longer.”

Arthur says he is waiting on an order placed last October and that many departments have begun to trade and barter with each other because of the high demand.

The Education Department, of Gun-Free Zones fame, is buying 12 Gauge shotguns, which are “compatible with existing Department inventory”. What!? From Examiner.com:

ShotgunThe purchase is for 27 Remington Model 870 pump-action shotguns with 14-inch modified choke barrels (the legal minimum length for private citizens is 18 inches without a special license). These shotguns are to be fitted with Wilson Combat ghost ring rear sights, Knoxx adjustable stocks and Speedfeed fore-ends.

Even more intriguing is the fact that, according to the solicitation notice, these are the “only shotguns authorized for ED based on compatibility with ED existing shotgun inventory, certified armor and combat training and protocol, maintenance, and parts.”

Yup – gun free zones for us, but not for them!

loAdd in the realistic civilian “no hesitation” target series, designed to speed up law enforcement’s reaction to “unconventional” situations, and we’re beginning to think that we are looking at the final results of pure democracy – the wolves are voting to put the lambs on the menu!

Let me put it this way: If you were looking for people you trust, who might actually stand up for the citizens in your state or town, or who would take their oath to the constitution VERY seriously, you’d be thinking LOCAL police, County Sheriffs, and The Marines.

See Tom's Post
See Tom’s Post
On the other hand, if you were looking for forces that might be unquestioningly loyal to the administration, who are schooled in bully boy tactics, or who just like to throw their weight around when they lean on those local police forces, you’d be thinking DHS, TSA, BATF, FBI, etc.

Therefore, if the Federal police forces are scarfing up all the ammo, and the armed forces and local police are being starved of ammo, doesn’t that paint a rather unsavory picture of the administration’s intent?

A charitable view is offered by Forbes columnist Ralph Benko, who hypothesizes that this is simply bureaucratic malpractice – IE buying military style equipment “Because they can”. He believes it’s gotten out of order, and calls for a national security conversation on what the DHS is up to.

On the other hand, Pat Robertson thinks the signs are that DHS is preparing to use them against us:

The least damning analysis is that the administration is not confident in its economic program, and is afraid of civil breakdown and disorder in the near future (Greece); The most damning analysis is that they are working to precipitate that crisis in order to thin the herd and ensure survival of those most loyal to the regime.

Breitbart worries more about the number and nature of DHS staff, than about the number of bullets, quoting Jeff Knox of the Firearms Coalition, and he has a point:

It’s not the number of bullets we need to worry about but the number of feds with guns it takes to use those bullets. There are currently more than 70 different federal law enforcement agencies employing over 120,000 officers with arrest and firearms authority . . . That’s an increase of nearly 30 percent between 2004 and 2008. If the trends have continued upward at a relatively steady rate, that would put the total number of federal law enforcement officers at somewhere between 135,000 and 145,000. That’s a pretty staggering number, especially when you consider that there are only an estimated 765,000 state and local law enforcement officers. That means that about one in seven law enforcement officers in the country works directly for the federal government, not a local jurisdiction.

Again, we collect the data – you decide.
I hate conspiracy theories, but DHS’ excuses for their actions do not add up.
Color me paranoid, but these dots are connecting all by themselves….
