One could only hope – she’d learn to shut her yap

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said he would “feel not only comfortable but proud” if he had a daughter serving in a front-line combat position in the U.S. military.

“I have a son in the military, I have another that’s a navy pilot, I have another one who served in the Marine Corps, and I would certainly feel not only comfortable but proud,” McCain said after President Obama’s State of the Union address when asked by CNSNews.com if he would be comfortable with his daughter serving in combat.

I met Meghan once while on the McCain Presidential campaign bus – “impressive” would never be a word that would float into my consciousness.  Look, riding a campaign bus for months on end, seeing a constant stream of reporters and “other folks” getting on / getting off – yeah, I’d be a bit nutty having to be a seat cover and stand up at each and every small campaign stop along the way.  But still, the aloofness was evident even then.  Fingernails on a chalkboard any time I have the misfortune to stumble across any of her writing – and the thumb goes supersonic on the remote if her visage appears on the TV.  Really, would any good Conservative want to be in the situation of having to jump into a foxhole – then turning around and figuring out “oh, it her”.  Fortunately, I’d bet that what happened to the Eldest and the Youngest would happen to her – they grew up and matured in a hurry.

Here’s hoping for any potential foxhole-mates.
