Snipe season?……

by Susan Olsen

From Drudge:

‘President Barack Obama has claimed that he goes shooting “all the time”, while attempting to reassure American gun-owners that he respects their rights to use firearms.”

“Up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time,” he said. “And I have a profound respect for the traditions of hunting that trace back in this country for generations.”

Be vewy vewy quiet!

I actually was pleased to hear Obama mention our valued tradition of hunting. And Suze conveniently left out the larger context of what Obama said. This little blurb was all over the internet yesterday as an excerpt from some interview or speech he gave recently in which he called out the anti-gun left and warned them that they need to “listen more” and be more open to hearing their opposition’s point of view. As a hunter and gun owner, it’s nice to hear the President stand up for my sport(although I HATE calling it that because it’s not how I view hunting at all) and call into question the gun-banners.

I imagined when I read this story yesterday that the fringe right would have none of it. That they would still use it to demonize him. And VOILA – here comes SUZE!

Oh hunting for sum street cred Danny boy, who cares whether BozO lifts a sporting shotgun on rare occasion or not. It has nothing to do with the second amendment, and his disingenuous gestures belie his craven pol-ish ways.

When the critters can shoot back….well then i’ll call it a sport. Although it does take some effort no doubt, at least more then falling into the SUV to go sit at the drive through at KFC. The wife just hit a 8 foot tall bull elk here in the mountains of AZ. Just hit his knees and he flipped right over the car even doing damage to the trunk. Did 12K in damage and hoped up and ran away. Sporty.

I don’t call it a sport. It’s not a sport. It’s a tradition, a way of life, part of our American heritage, the only way to successfully manage wildlife populations in this day and age, a way to self-sufficiently put high-protein, low-fat, guilt-free meat on your table . . . it’s a lot of things, but a sport it ain’t.

As someone who is 1/16th Cherokee(for real – not like Granny Warren) I resent that remark.

          • Chris P. Bacon

            1/16 of you resents it?

          • IWKAGGP

Yes, 1/16th of me resents it. The rest(Scotch-Irish, German, Swedish) . . . meh.

          • Chris P. Bacon

Ok, good to know. Then 1/16th of me is sorry.

I do not involve myself with the National political scene as to me it is as about as real as the WWF. Well, maybe not that real…but anyway. I say that because taking sides to me is like going through life hating Randy Macho Man for stealing The Hulksters girlfriend. It’s just entertainment for the masses and behind closed doors they are all doing the laughing, together, at their followers. Having said that, I have seen this latest puppet in chief throw a baseball and football. I wouldn’t let my daughters out in a public park if they threw like that. I cannot imagine what would happen to him firing a shotgun!!

Did you see the video of him fly fishing?
