Heh! Just remember, NY residents – we have no income or sales taxes here. We still like guns, too

the MinuteMen would have make “the swishing sound heard ’round the world” with the swords they would have been left with in NY”

Well, at least while we can still beat off the attacks of the transplanted Progressives now here in NH who hate people keeping their own money (that’s cheating Government, dontcha know!) and think guns are alive and evil.

SideNote: once again, I note that Progressives seemingly hardwired to NOT leave other people alone.  Conservatives: I just want to be a Conservative – just leave me be and I will leave you alone as well.  Stop trying to either convert me or absorb me into your Borg unilaterally.  You wanna be a Progressive? Great and good for you – go over there where the other Progressives are; we don’t want you and we don’t like your regressive policies enforced upon us.  Progressives: I want to be a Progressive – and that means where ever I go, you all have to be Progressives with me – and LIKE IT. I just don’t understand why you Conservatives so dislike us so – all we want to do is make life EASY for you by making all the decisions for you (that you used to do for yourself).  What, don’t you like the Utopia I am trying to put you into??

New York Times (reformatted, emphasis mine):

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, who spent his first two years in office establishing himself as a fiscal conservative, turned left in his third annual address to the Legislature, and sought to reclaim the state’s progressive mantle.  Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat, had two emotional fulcrums in his sprawling 78-minute address: gun violence and Hurricane Sandy. But most of the speech was devoted to an onslaught of proposals favored by the left wing of his party.

Yup, I think Cuomo so dismayed the base that, given his half way point, time to go full Progressive.  After all, without them, he isn’t getting back in.  Sure, NY is a Progressive bastion, but hey, he was showing so much “practicality”, he could have almost a moderate Repub.  But, here he goes!

He proposed increasing the minimum wage to $8.75 an hour from $7.25 an hour, public financing of elections, tougher greenhouse gas standards, solar jobs programs, a $1 billion affordable housing initiative, grants for schools that extend school days and a 10-point women’s rights program that garnered loud applause for its provisions strengthening abortion rights laws and enacting equal pay legislation.

Minimum wage – higher costs for employers.  Higher greenhouse gas standards – higher costs for employers.  Solar jobs programs – higher costs for employers. Extended school days – higher costs for union salaries and higher taxes for all.  $1B for housing – higher taxes for all.  Anytime the Dems push the social issues?  Higher costs for all.

Remember, New Yorkers – no income tax and no sales tax here in NH.

“We are a community based on progressive principles,” the governor said, in a speech to several hundred lawmakers and guests at an auditorium in the Capitol complex. “We must remain that progressive capital of the nation.”

Translation: the Bigger the Government, the smaller the citizen.  Remember, New Yorkers, we are the Live Free or Die State,  Not the Costly Bossy Nanny State (say buh-bye to your Big Gulps yet?).

How the state would pay for any new programs was not clear. The governor is to introduce his budget this month, but until Congress decides how much aid to send to New York to defray the costs of rebuilding after Hurricane Sandy, the state’s financial picture will be clouded.

Funny, that.  All these ideas, these costly new programs?  Ah – just standard fare for Progressives; promise stuff and silent on who pays for it all.  Yeah, you know the answer: no income or sales tax here in NH!

The governor promised not to raise taxes. He has made similar promises in the past, but then agreed to support a new higher tax bracket for the state’s highest earners. And he said he would continue to push for a referendum in November allowing an expansion of casino gambling, describing casinos as vehicles for improving the upstate economy. He said that, at first, he would allow as many as three full-scale casinos upstate, and none in New York City, in an effort to lure tourists to travel to economically struggling areas.

No tax increases?  Yeah, that’s just yanking a play out of the Obama-all-promises-come-with-expiration-dates playbook. Wwith all of the Banksters and 1%ers moving on up and out as Government is about to take over 50% of their income, who is gonna be left to pay the bill for this one?  Also, ” he would allow“?  My, such a royal decree coming from what should be a servant-leader.  Not surprised, yet another language perversion.

Republicans also saw the trend, but bemoaned it. Assemblyman Steve Katz, a Hudson Valley Republican, called the speech “a sharp veer to the left offering big government solutions for all problems.”

After all, you all is stoopid – you can’t survive without the heavy protective hand of government guiding every decision you make (or making all of the important ones for you in advance – you can make the little ones for yourself (maybe).

The governor gave some of his most impassioned remarks to date on guns, a cause he has voiced support for in the past but has not made a legislative priority. Mr. Cuomo’s legislative agenda was clearly upended by the recent mass shooting in Newtown, Conn., and the killings of two firefighters in Webster, N.Y. “End the madness now,” he said Wednesday.

Never let a crisis….oh heck, you know the mantra.  Nationwide, school violence is down and mass shootings are almost a statistical noise element.  He KNOWS that public policy is bad if created on isolated incidents.  But never let that get in the way of an ideological demand to dis-arm and defenestrate the right to self-defense.

“Forget the extremists — it’s simple,” the governor added, to a burst of applause. “No one hunts with an assault rifle. No one needs 10 bullets to kill a deer.”

He love us just so much with that word of endearment.  It’s like I went on a rampage or something.  Just like all the other 120 million other gun owners, we all decided to – oh yeah, act responsibly and lawfully and did nothing at all.  In fact, 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999%, we do the same thing over and over and over again.  But that makes us extremists.

No, what that really means is that these regressives don’t trust the rest of us any more than they trust themselves (psychological projection, you see).

Notice, too, the complete avoidance of what the Second Amendment says:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

I don’t see hunting in there.  I see no mention of what constitutes “Arms”.  I DO know what “shall not be infringed” means, though.

But I do see “necessary to the security of a free State”.  While the Gun Grabbers are all saying “back then they only had muskets – that’s all that we should allow you too” and showing a brazen lack of knowledge and a brazen lack of respect to their fellow serfs citizens.  Muskets they were, but they were the equivalent of the modern military arms of the day.  Each citizen brought their own guns and supplies in forming up their militia (that was not supplied) to the fight to throw off the tyrannical British Government.

After all, using the logic being applied by today’s Gun Grabbers, the MinuteMen would have make “the swishing sound heard ’round the world” with the swords they would have been left with.  Nice – bringing swords to a gun fight – that’s the ticket!

Today’s Regressives also want us to forget something else – the “Shot Heard ‘Round the World” was in response to the British trying to disarm the American citizens for the express reason of stopping a revolt before it happened.  The Red Coats were stopped only because individual citizens stood up for their Rights – with their own arms that matched up against what was then the local Government.

Make the connection?  The Minutemen fought against the local arms with the modern military rifles of the day.  Is that what the Regressive Progressives / Political Class is now digesting, as they lay a continuous line of fire of more and more laws, regulations, taxes, fees, and fines?  A revolt?

Like New York?  No wonder Cuomo wants to confiscate guns?
