Send a Wanker home for Christmas – Part III

Grokster Tom put up Send a Wanker home for Christmas in reaction to CNN’s Brit celebrity talking head, Piers Morgan, constant hoplaphobic yakking about how some US Citizens “over value” the words of the Second Amendment and seems to be in total agreement with Obama’s phrase concerning bitter clingers and their guns and Bibles.  Then some folks decided to take advantage of the White House new petition feature and ask that Piers Morgan be deported for being a threat to the US Constitution!

Well, I guess the Wanker has his nose out of joint – we may get our wish all by his lonesome

The concerted effort to get me thrown out of the country – which has so far gathered more than 90,000 signatures – struck me as rather ironic, given that by expressing my opinion I was merely exercising my rights, as a legal US resident, under the 1st Amendment, which protects free speech.

He shows an astonishing lack of knowledge about the First, even if he is a legal US resident; you may say what you want – that doesn’t mean that we have to treat you like a Queen – just sit there, nod our heads, and quietly titter “oh, how British of him”.  He comes from the land of a noisy, loud, and raucous Parliament.  He expects us to act otherwise?

But no matter.

This gun debate is an ongoing war of verbal attrition in America – and I’m just the latest target, the advantage to the gun lobbyists being that I’m British, a breed of human being who burned down the White House in 1814 and had to be forcefully deported en masse, as no American will ever be allowed to forget – Special Relationship notwithstanding.

Don’t worry about that “Special Relationship”- Obama has made it clear that the official (albeit not necessarily non-public, but just watching his actions) stance on that is about the same as the truthfulness and veracity as that quaint notion of American Exceptionalism.

It’s no exaggeration to say that America’s unique fondness for guns pretty much got cemented by hatred of us Brits and the War of Independence. But the main reason the more fervent gun-rights activists give is a fear of their own US federal government using its army to impinge on their freedom. The problem is that America’s historical love of guns means the country is now awash with them – and with gun death.

Why do these self-seeing-themselves-as-our-betters think that it is all about them?  Sure, his King George kinda started the ruckus in not only sending his Red Coats but mercenary Prussians to boot.  The larger issue, one that this British transplanted Progressive (as opposed to our very own British transplant Patriot, Grokster Mike!).  The Fabian Socialists effectively took over in Britain after WW II and what used to be a very proud nation (that almost came back after Prime Minister Iron Lady – Margaret Thatcher) is now a very sick, hollow of its once proud heritage.  It can be said (and I will) that the Britain of yore has fallen, not from external enemies but from internal enemies that have a far different and antithetical political philosophy from traditional British outlook and culture.

Morgan has correctly identified a ill feeling (to the point of being a fear) that many Americans have – that of the US Federal government impinging on citizens freedom – but fails to recognize or refuses to recognize that the process may well be underway (after all, in this “Free Country”, what is the logical conclusion that Government is stretching more and more into what used to be considered the sphere solely given to Individuals – the cars we drive, the foods we can eat, where and how we can live, limitation put on our exercise of religious expression in our individual, corporate, and public areas, and that we are forced to purchase a product by a private company or end up in jail?  Or even now, wishes to move one of the basic human rights, that of self-defense, from the Individual to be that solely of the State?  How’s that working out in Britain now, Piers – like that case of the homeowner who was pronounced guilty of harming two men that broke into her house in the night?

In conclusion, I can spare those Americans who want me deported a lot of effort by saying this: If you don’t change your gun laws to at least try to stop this relentless tidal wave of murderous carnage, then you don’t have to worry about deporting me.

Although I love the country as a second home and one that has treated me incredibly well, I would, as a concerned parent first – and latterly, of a one-year-old daughter who may attend an American elementary school like Sandy Hook in three years’ time – seriously consider deporting myself.

Buh-Bye, and thanks for all the fish…
