Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA): “The Rights of the few…”

by Skip

Every Sunday, I DVR the talking head shows.  This week was more arduous than most because we already knew what the topic du show were going to be: Newtown and the horrific event that happened there.  Knowing, too, who was going to be on the shows, I heard exactly what I thought I would – call for increased gun control under the stereotypical Progressive rubrics of “Nobody needs that” and “I don’t know anyone that…” as if on their worldview, only their “acceptable” items should be purchased under some strange definition of “Freedom”.  But that wasn’t the worst of it – my eyes nearly popped when I hear Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA, San Francisco) say the following on “Meet the Press” (emphasis mine):

Is this the way we want America to go?  In other words, the Rights of the few overcome the safety of the Majority?  I don’t think so!  I think America is ready (on her intent to submit a gun control bill on the first day of the next session).

The “Rights of the few” – funny, I always thought that Rights were an innate part of the ALL simply because they are US Citizens.  Perhaps I am just too old school for these fascist Progressives – I do believe in what the Founders wrote that our Rights are given to us by our Creator and Nature’s God and not just a bunch of legislators yammering away.  Sadly, she is from the philosophical Left that only believes that when it is conducive to their argument of the day.

No, Ms. Feinstein, it is NOT the “Rights of the few” –

each and every American posses the same Second Amendment Right that I do.  They may not like that it exists (as a lot of pacifiers believe), they may believe that my Right is valid only insofar in  purchasing a musket style firearm (as they make fun of that old dusty document written by old white privileged men who were only out for themselves), that I have no need of self-defense as the State is responsible for my safety (even as the State agents of law enforcement are still getting into their vehicles as the perp is aiming HER gun at me (hey, I don’t wish to appear sexist, right?)), and beside “I DON’T NEED THAT”.  No matter what, Ms. Feinstein, it IS the Right of the ALL, even if they choose not to exercise it for whatever reason, dumb or smart, for it is their Freedom to decide and choose for themselves.

What we see here is the Progressive demagogery at play: minimize the number of people who are “bad, ignorant, and selfish” and emphasize the Collective good they think would accrue via their policies.

Sad, that; it used to be that Democrats were all about ALL of the personal Rights.  It seems as the Democrat Party has been taken over by their Radical Left, their all consuming passion for the Individual has gone the way of their moderate centralists.

Defender of the ‘little guy’ no longer.

Yet another reason for New Hamster to separate from the fold and grow a set. Better yet, let those in each state define the kind of state they want to be, and let’s see what happens to places like MA-MA Land. Actually, we already have a clear picture of what a non-selfhelp commonwealth looks like: you go to jail for defending self and family, the perp walks, especially if from a protected foreign class.

Sen. Feinstein is one of the safest seated DemocRats there is, so they trot her out there to
broadcast the Left’s Gun Banning Agenda. Also, when it suits their agenda, they are the first to trumpet the rights of ‘the individual’ over the rights of the majority. Just depends on if it pushes the agenda LEFTWARD!

if we use Feinstein’s logic, then we can ban homosexuality, abortions, cars not equipped with a breathalyzer ignition lockout, cars which go faster than 55mph, private swimming pools, women in the military, etc.
