Connecticut And It’s Tough Gun Control Laws

”The world is filled with violence. Because criminals carry guns, we decent law-abiding citizens should also have guns. Otherwise they will win and the decent people will lose.”James Earl Jones

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence rated Connecticut as the fifth toughest state for its gun laws.

The Brady Bunch scores states numerically and Connecticut garnered 58 points out of a possible 100, California garners a score of 81 points and is the top state  Thirty-one states didn’t even score in the double digits.

Gun purchases in Connecticut requires residents to apply locally to law enforcement for a permit, submit fingerprints and have  a state and federal background check conducted along with a 14-day waiting period. Handgun purchases require residents to take a safety course.

Connecticut is also one of seven states to have their very own assault weapons ban detailing 35 semiautomatic and automatic weapons.

In 2011 Connecticut lawmakers proposed a magazine restriction limiting magazines to a 10 round maximum. The bill died in committee.

Thought of the day: For all the restrictions, laws and gun control in Connecticut, certainly none of them made a difference in the lives of the children who tragically died, nor  the teachers who died with them any safer.
