I just returned Mark Levin’s Ameritopia to ‘Grok friend Jean who has been VERY patient in waiting for me to return it. It is a very disturbing book to read (listen to) as when one compares the Utopian ideas of yore to what Progressives are trying to do now in American, it becomes very scary that the singular pillar of American Exceptionism, the sovereignty of the Individual, is under such attack. The story that Jean told me made me remember this one from Instapundit:

This president scares me. I’m a Democrat, but not a knee-jerk Democrat. I’m only loyal to America and the survival of Israel.
Could there be a Jewish preference cascade forming for Romney? The pack mentality is loosening among many “groups” thought to “belong” to the Democrats.
Her story? A thousand miles away, a life long Democrat off 88 years young told his NH based Daughter that for the first time in his life, he was going to vote for the Republican for president. His country was slipping away and he couldn’t allow it to happen. Your choice: a Progressive vision for America that is founded on European ideals for a Prussian by the name of Von Bismark who was waging war and conquering the rest of the Germanic States and creating an Empire? Or a true Red, White, and Blue American one? A State that is in charge, preeminent, and will give you stuff as bribes, or a Govt that derives its power by YOUR consent? European or American – your choice. Choose well.
Romney may not be your cup of tea, but or will you cast your vote in such a way that will allow Progressives to move America “Forward” to their preferred European basis? Where the Govt is in charge – and not you?
You may not be at all interested in Progressivism, but they certainly are interested in your vote (with all due respect to Cicero and Pericles). Do the right thing.
