How About That “Non-Existent Voter Fraud” Meme…or something

Donna Schlachman writing an opinion piece in Seacoast Online, says she asked New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner (last year) about voter fraud and….

I learned that actual cases of fraud are practically non-existent. Even last year’s staged attempt to prove that people can vote illegally in N.H. was unsuccessful. It turns out that the risk of denying legitimate voters their right to cast a ballot is far greater than the risk of someone voting here who does not live here.

Well guess what?  If the State refused to charge anyone with burglary, actual cases of that would be non-existent as well.

The real problem is that Donna does not want to ask the right questions.

What you should have asked is “did Democrats pass laws that make it almost impossible to detect voter fraud in New Hampshire?”  The answer is yes.

“Did Democrats make it legal for people who do not live here to vote here?”  The answer is yes.

Is there really any chance that a legitimate voter will be denied the right to vote because they need to present ID?  No.

Let’s revisit these issues, working backwards, by asking the question no disinterested reporter or observer will ask–if it risks damaging the left wing voter ID/Vote Fraud narrative.

Has Voter ID, where implemented, reduced the number of voters?  No!

Voter ID Actually increases voter participation everywhere it is implemented.  (huh?)  It’s true.  Taking steps to secure the integrity of the ballot box and protecting peoples votes encourages more legal citizens to participate.  Knowing your vote might actually count, encourages more legal voting.  Objecting to voter ID is actually a form of voter suppression because ID is not the problem and the voters know that.

If you want to legally work in New Hampshire (even at the age of 15 or 16)  Federal law requires you to present proof of citizenship; funny thing, but that proof is the same kind of ID you would use to vote.   The same rules apply to Medicaid–without proof of citizenship you can’t get access–so the young, the elderly, those needing services, these legitimate legal age voters will already have ID.  You need photo ID to get food stamps, and a host of other benefits as well in our state.  ID is not an issue.  Requiring ID does not suppress turnout or intimidate voters…they have the ID already.

And because it matters, New Hampshire has around 770,000 registered voters but approximately 950,000 issued photo ID drivers licenses, and a work force that peaked at 750,000 (ID required).  Having ID is not a problem, and it never was.

Is it just Republicans who support voter ID?

74% of all Americans,  and a 60/40 or better majority of every party affiliation, gender, minority, or income group support voter ID.  A majority of Blacks, Hispanics, women, lower income, all favor voter ID.  Even 60% of Democrats believe we need Photo ID.

Will any legitimate citizen of New Hampshire be denied the right to vote?  No.

Provisional ballots and absentee ballots make it easy to vote, at the polls, or without ID at all–just a signature.  No legal voter has any fear of being excluded if they happen to forget their ID. About the only thing the ID law will do is force out-of-state college students to vote absentee in their own home towns instead of in yours.  (Which is why Democrats continue to lie and misrepresent the facts.  They want to stuff your local ballot box with those Democrat votes.)

Did Democrats pass laws to make it easier to steal votes and harder to identify voter fraud?  yes.

Voter Fraud existed and still does, Democrats just made it impossible to observe, to charge, and to prosecute.  So when Bill Gardner says it is non-existent, we could just as easily say that if the State made it legal for burglars to enter your home and steal your stuff, that crime would be non-existent as well.  And voter fraud is really the same thing.  Votes determine budgets, spending, bond issues, and candidates who will make decisions about how much you pay in taxes and how that money is spent.  Ignoring it, making it legal, or refusing to prosecute it, is no different than legalizing burglary.

Of course Bill Gardner has an even bigger problem.  There is a good deal of voter fraud occurring that has nothing to do with ID, that he has never been willing to prosecute.  Poll workers telling citizens lies about candidates to influence their votes, illegal registration practices, voter checklists with the names of the deceased or folks who have moved away, all forms of fraud that can steal or erase legitimate votes, all of it essentially ignored by Bill Gardner.  And as long as he never has to really investigate anyone or anything, he can continue to say vote fraud does not exist.

Is Donna Schlachman an elected Democrat in the New Hampshire House who opposes voter ID and toes the lefts misinformation campaign on the matter?  Yes.

Donna has been in the New Hampshire House since 2008 and opposes voter ID.  Donna is familiar with her party line on the issue, but clearly knows very little else, unless she knows and is just lying by omission.

Is Bill Gardner a Democrat.

Yes he is.  He has served both Republican and Democrat Governors.  There is a long an detailed record in the offices of CNHT of all the Vote fraud Bill Gardner never wanted to investigate.  It is fraud you never heard about because someone ignored it, hid it, or simply tried to make it legal.  So whomever the next Republican governor is, if they are serious about protecting the integrity of the vote, William Gardener will have to go.
