Glen Reynolds nails it – “Why Barack Obama should resign”

What do you say about a Government that care more about its image, more about its power, and more about re-election than doing what it is supposed to be doing?  I don’t often put up entire posts – but this one deserves to be read in it entirety – Glen Reynolds aka “Mr. Instapundit” aka The BlogFaddah” (emphasis mine):

WHY BARACK OBAMA SHOULD RESIGN. Just for the record, this is what it looked like for a man who made a film that made the Obama Administration uncomfortable:

Here’s the key bit: “Just after midnight Saturday morning, authorities descended on the Cerritos home of the man believed to be the filmmaker behind the anti-Muslim movie that has sparked protests and rioting in the Muslim world.”

When taking office, the President does not swear to create jobs. He does not swear to “grow the economy.” He does not swear to institute “fairness.” The only oath the President takes is this one:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

By sending — literally — brownshirted enforcers to engage in — literally — a midnight knock at the door of a man for the non-crime of embarrassing the President of the United States and his administration, President Obama violated that oath. You can try to pretty this up (It’s just about possible probation violations! Sure.), or make excuses or draw distinctions, but that’s what’s happened. It is a betrayal of his duties as President, and a disgrace.

He won’t resign, of course. First, the President has the appreciation of free speech that one would expect from a Chicago Machine politician, which is to say, none. Second, he’s not getting any pressure. Indeed, the very press that went crazy over Ari Fleischer’s misrepresented remarks seems far less interested in the actions of an administration that I repeat, literally sent brown-shirted enforcers to launch a midnight knock on a filmmaker’s door.

But Obama’s behavior — and that of his enablers in the press — has laid down a marker for those who are paying attention. By these actions he is, I repeat, unfit to hold office. I hope and expect that the voters will agree in November.

To his door.  For simply expressing his own thoughts via the Freedom inherit in our Bill of Rights.  But in Obama’s world, there are many infractions of the law that can and will be used to attack someone – even if it has nothing to do with what has angered and embarrassed the Administration (means to the end, after all).  And He will make sure every single one is used – after all, both Republicans and Democrats (for whatever reason that advances their ideology) have put all citizens in the position of violating multiple laws or regulations every day via simple over-legislating and over-regulating America.  Set up a pretext, haul them in.  What ever gets rid of the pimple on the Administration’s a$$ nose.

In each and every case of an Obama Administration official, from Obama down to a lowliest flackster, the message has been that “Hey, this film is disgusting, we deplore it, we didn’t have anything to do with it – DON’T BLAME US!”  in the tone of “hey, we’re blameless here – look at that private citizen”.  And downward from there in the vein of “Dang, there’s this Constitutional thing that is keeping us from doing anything about him or his movie!  We’d love to do something, but that thing we’ve got, the First Amendment….hey, Islamists, we side with you on this but we have no power to do anything.  Mostly, that is”.

Yeah, you have a reason – but you will use him as a scapegoat.  You ARE using a private citizen to shift the blame from your failing policies (“self-assured incompetence”).  If only you would treat Christians on your War On Religion as you kowtow to Islamic bullies.  But then again, you are both bullies on the same side, eh sport?
