Blue Hampshire Doesn’t Really Understand NH “Citizen Activism”

DC 91209

In a posting dated Monday, September 17, 2012 (the 225th anniversary of the creation of the US Constitution), William Tucker over at Blue Hampshire (or, more accurately, “Boo-Hoo Hamster”), states that “conservative special interest groups successfully targeted GOP lawmakers who failed to toe the ideological line…“.

Good observation, but his title “NH GOP purges moderates” is all wrong.

Calling them “victims of the purge”, and attempting to tie their demise to the nefarious and pointy-tailed Bill O’Brien, Tucker quotes the consistently unbiased Nashua Telegraph reporter, Kevin Landrigan, subtly ginning-up fears of some Koch-Nugent-Sununu-Eastwoodian cabal, secretly operating somewhere in West Virginia, working to eradicate all New Hampshire RINOs, then coming to blast us all back to the horrible 1950’s (when people didn’t lock their doors at night, families could afford to have Mom stay at home if they chose, planning for retirement wasn’t a laugh, we actually had affordable private medical care, and the dollar was worth more than fourteen cents).

Tucker also says that “you can add ‘Moderate Republican’ to your list of favorite oxymorons“.  He gets that right, and I’m glad he points this out, because many of us dream of the day when we can announce that ‘Moderate Republicans‘ are extinct.  These are big dreams but, here in New Hampshire, we’re making steady progress towards that goal and ALL Republicans are on notice…even Bill O’Brien (which he knows).

You see, with the left-shifting of American society since the early 1960’s, these “Moderate Republicans” are what we used to call “Democrats” back in the scary 1950’s.  The politicians who are acceptable to us these days, because they follow the Constitution, have even a little moral foundation, and are fiscally responsible (the ones you would call “extremists”), are actually run-of-the mill Republicans of days-gone-by…and we ‘kinda like them that way.  Today’s Democrats?  You don’t want to know.

That’s the main difference between Conservatives and Liberals; we don’t accept a candidate simply because they have an (R) next to their name, are backed by some union bosses, or simply spew rhetoric we want to hear.  We incessantly analyze our candidates, rate them, question them, then chew them up and spit them out if they claim to be a good thing, yet turn out to be something else.  We think.  For ourselves.

There are still some people on The Right who call themselves Conservative, but fall victim to herd mentality, so, we fight among ourselves, feverishly trying to push and prove our agendas and principles, but we make up and “move on”, better off for the cleansing contention.  You know, I even believe I see a recent twinkling of this from some notable (albeit stupid) Liberals (now there’s an anti-oxymoron), as disappointment with Obama’s low Socialist-Marxist intensity level increases (note to Matt Damon: Don’t worry, Obama will have “more flexibility” after the election).

It’s called “citizen activism”, Willy, and was directed, not by some cartel, but by a growing set of concerned, passionate, creative New Hampshire residents (predominantly unpaid volunteers), who want to help keep their government as conservative and liberty-minded as possible.

For what it’s worth, the GOP, itself, has never been in the business of “purging” moderates.  If that were true, Charlie Bass would be selling his cord-wood on a Route-101 roadside stand.

Write this down: You can’t beat a small army of motivated, hungry patriots, even with a large army of mindless drones.

You should be used to this by now, Mr. Tucker.  If not, then get ready, because we’re just getting started.
