…you start getting multiple political poll calls per day. Up until last week, it was only every once in a while.
I have now been called 8 times in two days. My feeling is that it is going to intensify. I don’t mind when I have the time – but I extremely do mind when the person trying to ask won’t answer the basic question of “And how long will this take?”, me not accepting “Not long”, and then they get their panties in a wad and get mad. Look, I know that some get compensated for total calls placed and completed, and in as short of a time as possible, but that’s no reason to be RUDE to the person that can help “your numbers”.
There are some, like the older lady I talked to last nite, that can have some fun with the answers, and can laugh as well; it was a nice call because I was able to turn the tables as in “and how would YOU answer that question?”. Do that, be friendly – and you may get more calls done.
‘Course, sometimes we can put that into that kind of mood, too, by taking them off-guard and asking: “and how are YOU doing tonite?”. They generally don’t expect someone actually looking for a real answer.
But even I am going to be glad when they stop – even I can reach my limits when the number of attempts reaches 10 or more / day (and here in the battleground of NH, I do foresee that number. And oh, by the way Mr. Gallup? Please stop calling my cell phone – THAT’S irritating and I refuse to answer polls coming in that way).
