Red Sox make 262 million dollar trade with Dodgers

The Red Sox have announced a 262.5 million dollar trade with the LA Dodgers that will unload, Crawford, Gonzales, Beckett and Punto.

the Red Sox will send Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett, Nick Punto and the combined $262.5 million remaining on their contracts to Los Angeles for top pitching prospects Allen Webster and Rubby De La Rosa, marginal hitting prospects Jerry Sands and Ivan DeJesus, and first baseman James Loney.

I can’t say if it will make the Red Sox worth watching next year, but how could it be worse than this year…and it frees up the payroll a bit for developing talent and a fresh start.

Or maybe not.

I’m glad to see Beckett go. He had moved from the “Asset” column to the “Liability” back around September of 2011. And Punto, I could take him or leave him – he is of no consequence. But why trade Gonzalez??? Sure him and Crawford tie up a lot of cash, and I’d be OK with trading ONE of them(ie Crawford), but Gonzo had come a lot closer to living up to expectations than Crawford. I hope they take all this extra money and put it to good use. I can’t take another “rebuilding” year or “bridge” year or whatever you wanna call it.

Maybe they will take all that freed up cash and help their favorite buddy out win the White House steeple chase once again. Now that they got rid of the single dissenting voice of the one clutch pitcher they had, should be a unified voice of rainbows and unicorns.

OH MY F’ing GOD!!!!!!! It figures that you, c dog e doggie, would be a Beckett fan. Let’s face it. He WAS a clutch pitcher. His playoff record is money. He is one of the main reasons why we won it all in ’07. But in recent years he’s become spoiled, coddled, selfish, and devoid of any respect for the game. I don’t even believe you follow the Sox much, just posted your contrary comment ’cause you read mine and wanted to argue with me.
