Medicare Fraud – [Updated and Bumped – Again…]

When I say “Medicare Fraud,” I’m not referring to the corrupt practices of people and professionals who are milking taxpayers by running fast circles around the bureaucratic behemoth that is Medicare.  I am referring to the left-wing Democrat lie-factory that has nothing in its barren campaign quiver but fear tactics.   That is the fraud I am referring to.   That and the fraud they will perpetrate on every aspect of the Ryan Budget.

I just hope Harry Reid has nothing to say about the Ryan budget…you know…that might get awkward.

Here’s a short clip from CBS news c/o Hot Air on Romney/Ryan and Medicare…

[Update(s) on the jump]

Respected Democrat Budget thinker Erskine Bowles, while not advocating the Ryan budget in its entirety, still has good things to say about the man and the plan.

“Have any of you met Paul Ryan? We should get him to come to the university. I’m telling you this guy is amazing, uh. I always thought that I was OK with arithmetic, but this guy can run circles around me. And, he is honest. He is straightforward. He is sincere.

And, the budget that he came forward with is just like Paul Ryan. It is a sensible, straightforward, serious budget and it cut the budget deficit by $4 trillion…just like we did.

The President came out with his own plan and the President came out, as you will remember, with a budget and I don’t think anyone took that budget very seriously. Um, the Senate voted against it 97 to nothing. He, therefore, after a lot of pressure from folks like me, he came out with a new budget framework and, in the new budget framework, he cut the budget deficit by $4 trillion over 12 years. And, to be candid, this $4 trillion cut was very heavily back-end loaded. So, if you looked at it on a 10 year basis and compared apples-to-apples, it was about a $2.5 trillion cut.”

[Update] What I did not immediately realize is that 60 minutes edited out a particularly relevant part of the interview (which is in the clip above), that regular broadcast viewers did not see.  (I don’t watch any TV news so I didn’t miss what I would have missed.  But here’s the transcript of that portion from the clip,  provided by Breitbart.com

My mom is a Medicare senior in Florida. Our point is we need to preserve their benefits, because government made promises to them that they’ve organized their retirements around. In order to make sure we can do that, you must reform it for those of us who are younger. And we think these reforms are good reforms, that have bipartisan origins. They started from the Clinton commission in the late ’90s.

Why wouldn’t CBS want it’s viewers to know this about Paul Ryan and his plan for fixing Medicare?  Hmmmmm?

[Update 2] Might as well remind everyone that the Medicare lie Obama is unwrapping again now that Ryan is VP, was already declared the 2011 Lie of the year by PolitiFact–which is not exactly Republican friendly to begin with.

And just becasue this will make liberal lurkers cringe–mostly becasue it is not what they have been told to believe, here is a simply explanation of the current circumstances of medicare and what the Republicans have been trying to do to save it.
