Guest Post by Steve Patton – Please vote for Pat Abrami and Joanne Ward over “Barely a Republican” Tim Copeland

Note: Steve’s guest post did not label Tim Copeland “Barely a Republican”.   I did.

The NH state primary is fast approaching on Tuesday, September 11, 2012.  As this is the first primary conducted on the new state districts based on the US Census of 2010, there are notable opportunities for Republicans to strengthen their team. Here is one such opportunity.

The town of Stratham has two exclusive seats in the new House district plan. There are currently 3 incumbent Republican representatives running for the two seats.  A sharp distinction can be drawn between the three candidates, making the Republican choice clear.

Pat Abrami (R-Stratham) and Joanne Ward (R-Stratham) have distinguished themselves with common sense votes and a commitment to Republican principles necessary for restoring New Hampshire’s strength after two Democratic legislatures produced an unprecedented $800M deficit in state finances.  Abrami earned a score of 84% from the respected House Republican Alliance (HRA).  Ward earned a score of 78%.

On the other hand, Tim Copeland (R-Stratham) has a much weaker record. The HRA scored Copeland at 50%. The liberty minded Republican Liberty Caucus of NH scored Copeland at an abysmal 44%. The libertarian NH Liberty Alliance gave Copeland a grade of “D”.

What do these scores mean? Copeland:

1) did NOT protect property owners from officials who invade privacy without a warrant. (HB514 2012 vote #46)
2) does NOT trust citizens to defend themselves in their own homes.  (SB88 2011 vote #243)
3) does NOT trust parents to educate their children.  (CACR9 2011 votes #56, 57)
4) would take no action to protect travelers from excessive TSA procedures.  (HB628 2012 vote #15)
5) voted against parents’ opting their children out of objectionable school material. (HB542 2011 vote #266)
6) voted against spending increase protections. (CACR6 2012 vote #292)
7) voted for forced union membership and dues. (HB474 2011 vote #265)
8) voted for higher government spending. (HB1 2011 vote #161)
9) voted for higher taxes in a recession. (HB2 2011 vote #143)
10) voted with liberal former Democrat House Speaker Rep. Terie Norelli (D-Portsmouth) 236 times.
11) voted with liberal former Democrat House Speaker Rep. Terie Norelli (D-Portsmouth) 55% of the time.
12) will NOT curb exploding state retirement costs. (SB3 2011 vote #245)

Republicans can and must do better than re-electing Tim Copeland to the New Hampshire House. Re-elect Pat Abrami and Joanne Ward for State Representatives in Stratham, Rockingham County District 19.
