RINO Reminiscents

“I would rather have a competent extremist than an incompetent moderate.” —Leon Jaworski

Representative Lee Quandt (R)ino

Many of you know Marshall “Lee” Quandt? Rockingham District 13? We here at the Grok fancy him a RINO. Back in January of this year he went after Conservative Commentator Carolyn McKinney where he characterized the New Hampshire Republican Liberty Caucus as, “sickening.”  Aside from grossly mischaracterizing McKinney, he unabashedly defends, supports and coddles the unions.

Make no mistake about it. Lee Quandt is a RINO…But then again Rockingham Districts, “have RINO written all over them.”  So back in April, Quandt has a sit down with Ann Marie Timmons and Matt Spolar, two lib-scribes of the Concord “Fishwrapper” Monitor. Here’s how they play it:

Quandt makes his case

Speaking of speaker hopefuls: Rep. Lee Quandt, a pro-union Republican from Exeter who’s made his distaste for O’Brien well-known, said last week he’s considering a run. The two not only differ on right-to-work legislation but also in style, Quandt said.

“I am a combat veteran. I have led people into combat, and I know the secret to having power is acting like you don’t have it,” Quandt said. “The other side shows that they have to exercise their authority and their power on a daily basis by throwing people off committees and grinding them up.”

If Quandt runs, he said, his priorities will be defending unions, setting a new tone in the State House and working cooperatively with everyone.

“(My goal) is going to be staying on top of the budget and fiscal responsibility and working more closely with the (state) department heads to achieve the goals of reduced spending and reduced taxes,” he said. “When you do that you get some good ideas.”

Quandt said his support could come from out-of-office GOPers who might run again out of concern for the direction of the party.

“I think we have a lot of the old-timers who are taking a look at me,” he said.

“Res Ipsa Loquitor.”  We have long been a two-party system so that people could make clear distinctions about leadership philosophies and the general direction in which a nation, or in this case, a state is run and how its money is spent. Its less than perfect and it has its quirks, but politicians like Lee Quandt have long since worked feverishly at blurring the lines of demarcation so that people have difficulty knowing the difference between right and wrong, good and bad.  Lee Quandt is just that.

Marshall “Lee” Quandt is a RINO, through and through. make no mistake about it. He will take whatever position suits him, even if it means throwing his constituents under the bus or being less than candid…I’ve seen him at Friends of the NRA banquet hob-nobbing for the endorsement, yet voting against gun bills. He supports unions and votes against right to work. He like to reach across the aisle far too often.

Now, he thinks he can be the speaker of the house. I think the speaker’s helm has had a belly-full of RINOdom at the hands of Doug Scamman. Now, we’d even entertain Quandt as a viable candidate? Who is smoking what?  I think Quandt is just plain full of himself.
