Manchester Democrat Peter Sullivan Admits He Is a Socialist

This has to be one of my favorite screen caps this year.  It is a facebook comment by Manchester Democrat Peter Sullivan.  In it, he is simultaneously suggesting that an admitted atheist has more doctrinally in common with the Catholic Church than “Anything you will see from those homophobic nuts at GraniteGrok.”

That is so sweet. It is sweet because in it he admits that he is a socialist.

Peter Sullivan implies that an atheist has more in common with the church The Catholicism Mr. Sullivan defends is commonly referred to as Catholic socialism.  Catholic socialism uses political connections or  influence to encourage the redistribution of other peoples property by force (legal plunder) for specific purposes favored by those advocating the taking.  In this case for what Peter Sullivan calls “His Catholicism.”

Mr. Sullivan’s Catholicism favors statist takings of private property to advance things he has defined with the deft hand of a proper Marxist.  But what is more striking than emoting ephemeral moving-target doctrine like “social Justice” and “Environmental Stewardship,” both buzz words used to justify the latest progressive government confiscatory tax policy du jour, he also insists that “Hud” (William Hudson Connery III), an atheist and admitted Democrat socialist who either can’t stand God’s fan club, or just can’t stand letting anyone know that, has more in common with his idea of Catholicism than “the homophobic nuts at GraniteGrok.”

Let me be the first to say that aside from the bit about homophobic nuts, I completely agree with Peter Sullivan’s Statement.  The doctrines of the Democrat Socialist have far more in common with the Catholic Socialism of Peter Sullivan, than anything anyone at Granite Grok believes, including the Catholics (of which there at least two).  In fact, we probably do not agree on much of anything at all with these socialists.  Proudly, I might add.

As a Catholic myself, with an Episcopate Bishop for an Uncle, a best friend who is a Baptist minister with a Masters in Theology, and a functional knowledge of common sense and inalienable human rights,  I can tell you with some authority that any act of doctrine or faith used as cover for plundering the legal property of others is still stealing.  And in my Catholicism (and my everything else for that matter) that is still a sin.  Disguising that theft by arranging political coalitions of “like minded thieves” to legalize the stealing does not make it less so.

As to that last part, the suggestion that I and my fellow bloggers at GraniteGrok are homophobic nuts, I’ve been called worse by better, and since I know he can’t prove I am a homophobic nut, why not instead question the context of the remark.  The last time I checked the Church had not embraced same sex marriage, or even conceded the issue of non reproductive sex between any two people as anything but sinful regardless of with whom you had it.  Sure, there’s a good bit of look the other way there, but if we’re talking about doctrine, no.  So Mr Sullivan’s Catholicism is clearly different.  He’s more the Nancy Pelosi variety of Catholic.  That’s got to look good on his resume.

So I guess Peter Sullivan is OK with the contraceptive mandate as well?
