If s/he does want to be referred to as a "he" or a "she", is this a case of too much watching of "The Munsters"? - Granite Grok

If s/he does want to be referred to as a “he” or a “she”, is this a case of too much watching of “The Munsters”?

Is this the point at which the LGBT<XYZ> movement jumps the shark?  From The Corner (Mark Steyn):

George Leef over at NRO’s PhiBetaCons had a teasing link to this exciting news earlier today:

Harvard has appointed Vanidy “Van” Bailey as the College’s first permanent director of bisexual, gay, lesbian, transgender, and queer student life. Bailey, the assistant director for education at the University of California, San Diego, will assume the new position on July 16.

Alas, this long overdue shattering of the BGLTQ ceiling was marred by The Harvard Crimson’s grossly insensitive coverage:

An earlier version of this article used the pronoun “she” to refer to Vanidy “Van” Bailey, the newly appointed director of bisexual, gay, lesbian, transgender, and queer student life. In fact, Bailey prefers not to be referred to by any gendered pronoun.

So America is now the first nation in history in which people take on six figures of debt for the privilege of entrusting their education to persons with no pronouns. That seems likely to work.

I know that here in America, the land of the Free (which includes the Freedom to be Stupid and Carry Things Over The Cliff), one can achieve anything they can.  Including being “nothing”.  You go, buckoo!

The only thing that is Left, so it seems, once “he” and “she” are dismissed  is “It” (as in Cousin It), yes?  Or in keeping with “The Munsters” theme, would it be “Thing”?  No, I don’t mean a crawling hand! Like a couch or a lamp?  Those are “Things”, right?  And when I try to move the former, “it” gives me back problems.

I’m quite sure that the Political Correctness Police are going to get all up in arms, but remember Vanidy Bailey started it with a refusal to, well, be normal even with respect to definitions.  Wanna be gay?  Fine.  Want to keep redefining the language on your own to suit an agenda? Well, if you stay an academia, the center of being PC and identity groupism, knock yourself out. Outside that ivory tower?  Pretty much a splat from the fall.  When you rub up against other folks agendas, be ready to  – Oh gosh, I can’t even use “man up” here, can I?

And as always, Collin, your boss has WAY too many Political Incorrectness episodes for you to even thing about trying….
