Jeb Bush On This “Temporary” Hyper-Partisan Moment

Jeb Bush is out there shilling for compromise.

“Ronald Reagan would have, based on his record of finding accommodation, finding some degree of common ground, as would my dad — they would have a hard time if you define the Republican party — and I don’t — as having an orthodoxy that doesn’t allow for disagreement, doesn’t allow for finding some common ground,” Bush said, adding that he views the hyper-partisan moment as “temporary.”

I agree.  As soon as the Democrats compromise and embrace low taxes, balanced budgets for small government, liberty, freedom, and the limitations the US Constitution places on the Federal Government, (as well as Constitutional limits of State and local Government) the “hyper-partisan moment” could end.  It is time for them to compromise with us.

That’s not what he means, of course.  He is referring to the historical arc of Republicans giving in to  Democrats.  But looking back toward Ronald Reagan’s time, the only prosperity and growth that has occurred in my lifetime is when Democrats have given in to Republicans on core issues of principle.

As for Reagan’s ability to compromise, tell that to the Russians, or the Air Traffic Controllers, to name but two.
