Communism – alive and well in the US; the State of Connecticut is giving them money and the AFL-CIO SuperPAC uses one of their names

Updated and Bumped:   It seems that people in CT, especially Veterans Groups, were as upset with this as I was (reformatted for space, some emphasis mine):

Sen. Suzio Declares Victory for Vets & Taxpayers after Gov. Pulls Controversial New Haven Bond Item

State Sen. Len Suzio (R-Meriden) today issued the following statement after Gov. Dannel P. Malloy pulled from the State Bond Commission’s agenda a controversial measure to give $300,000 in state money to a communist-led nonprofit in New Haven.  “When you push hard, fight for what’s right and keep the drumbeat going, you get results. “Earlier this year, we were told we would never be able to cap the state’s rising gas tax. Many thought we would give up, yet we made that happen. “Today’s action by the governor proves that when people are given leadership and a voice, they cannot be denied.  “To the scores of taxpayers – especially the many veterans groups – who spoke out against this bond item: Congratulations. Your voices were heard.  “You spoke out against giving $300,000 of your money to refurbish the headquarters for the Communist Party in Connecticut. You called the governor’s office. You wrote letters to the editor. You rallied in front of the organization, waving flags and patriotic signs.  “Without your voices, this item would have passed. You sent a message today. You got results. Thank you.”

We fought the Cold War against this totalitarian ideology that killed between 50 and 75 million of their own citizens.   Yet, given the proclivities of Democrat Party to push this country away from our Founders vision and towards socialism anyways, why am I not surprised at the actions of the Democrat Governor of Connecticut is sending them taxpayer money (emphasis mine):

The Nutmeg State will be funding the Communist Party.

Yep, despite massive debt and a mushrooming deficit, Governor Dannel Malloy, with the obedient Democrat legislature in tow, will convene the State Bond Commission on June 4th and push through a $300,000 “grant-in-aid to Progressive Education and Research Associates to finance renovations to the New Haven Peoples Center at 37 Howe Street.” The masquerades of Progressive this and People that aside, 37 Howe Street happens to be the headquarters for the Connecticut Communist Party, run by Joelle Fishman, who also happens to be the regional bureau chief for the infamous Peoples World. Which, yes, also happens to be located at 37 Howe Street.

So here we have a state that is awash in red ink, consciously increasing its red ink, to directly send taxpayer dollars to a place that publishes Red ink.

Communists first, regular citizens second?  Is that the proper role for government (in an erstwhile free and democratic society)? While the SEIU is well known to be rife with socialist and Communists sympathizers (especially around Chicago), is the AFL-CIO wanting to out itself?  Guess what the name of their SuperPAC?  Yeah, it is:

Workers’ Voices, a front group for the AFL-CIO, has been billed as the “largest union super-PAC” even though its own website declares it is not an exclusively union-oriented organization. “Workers’ Voice represents and fights for all working families, union and non-union,” the site proclaims. It is no real secret, however, that the super-PAC is the creation of the AFL-CIO. Filings show that the group is housed in the labor union’s vast Washington, D.C. offices. Last year Eddie Vale, now Workers’ Voice’s communications director, made $81,274 working for the AFL-CIO. Vale is a former Democratic campaign hack.

…Their name, however, may not be the best-conceived political label for group seeking to sway voter opinion in an election. As it turns out, Workers’ Voices is a fairly routine and common name for propaganda newspapers and broadsides affiliated with the Communist Party. In Detroit, a group calling itself the Communist Voice Organization has for a long time published the Detroit Workers’ Voice. Worker’s Voice was also the name of an Irish newspaper with ties to the Communist Party there. Other Communist Party groups in other nations have also used the name frequently.

No, this is not in the same class of stupidity as NH Gov. Lynch’s about claiming The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children is a Fed database; this is much worse.  Given the long history of it’s usage, it has to be deliberate.  There is no running away from any “nuance” in this case – there is no alternate meaning for that phrase.

There is a reason why this is an important election time – the sorry part, it may be that this tag may be in vogue for a while.  Communists and Socialists (and those of that ilk that inhabit the husk of the Democrat  call TEA Party folks extremists?  The only “liberty” that they seem to be in favor of is sexual license – all else needs to be controlled by law or regulation.

The Democrats love to say that Republicans want to control what you do in the bedroom; with that as a distraction, they are doing what is necessary to control all other aspects of your life.  Bet on it.
