Brett Kimberlin and my Kitchen Floor - Granite Grok

Brett Kimberlin and my Kitchen Floor

I missed most of this weekend, and continue to, including the blog burst on Brett Kimberlin.  I am removing and replacing vast swaths of ceramic tile (some broken some not) from my kitchen floor and replacing them with a lovely pattern, using some contrasting color…blah blah blah.  (My wife watches a good deal of Home and Garden Television, the result of which is that I am now the flooring bitch.)  But back to the point…

I was just planning to replace a washer on the faucet...

In the wee hours (when you are so tired from the strain of your honest labor that your eyelids make that scratching noise when you blink) I try to feed my brain with a few pages of something before exhaustion consumes me.  Last night, I read this–from Jonah Goldberg’s Tyranny of Clichés–that reminded me of the Brett Kimberlin’s of the world and the Right wing Blogosphere’s response to them.

On the matter of attributing the quote “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing” to  Edmund Burk, Goldberg references Yuval Levin, who suggests there is no record of Edmund Burke having ever said it.  But he did say this…

“When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.”

You can chew on that, I have to get back to the kitchen floor.
