Stacy McCain spins a great phrase “the Denunciation Derby”!

OK, this weekend’s political scalps: on the Left, the still anonymous NBC “producer” that doctored up the now famous Tryvon Martin case’s “he looks black” in trying to insinuate “racism by a white Hispanic” (what, as opposed to a purple and green one?), Mr. Zimmerman.  On the Right, John Derbyshire, late of National Review for a column at another site, got cashiered by NR for saying what he did.

However wrong their actions and words, Stacy points out the Level 2 problem: “the Denunciation Derby” (quick Stacy, trademark that!):

This is a familiar ritual, The Denunciation Derby, in which liberals demand that everyone compete for the Sweepstakes Prize offered for whoever can express the most indignant outrage against the target. It seemed obvious that Derbyshire was doomed, and there was no point even trying to defend him, but Weigel — who has never been accused of being a racist — was under attack for having blogged about Derbyshire with insufficient outrage.

…Grandiosity — the unrealistic inflation of personal significance — is necessary to the delusion: Why would all these powerful forces of evil be conspiring against an obscure nobody? The damaged ego must inflate the imagined power of scapegoated enemies in order to explain how the grandiose self has been thwarted.

Harrel Kirstein, NH Dem Pressflackerino, was great at this – waving his Political Correctness / Cultural Marxism flag for every itty bitty thing we said that violated his sense (or was that Ray Buckley’s (he of “Hitler should have bombed it” fame) sense) of political discourse which can be typified by the normal Liberal answer to stuff they don’t like: “Your disagree with me?  YOU MUST BE SILENCED!”.  I’ve seen it and been the target of it – what ‘You’re not complaining??”

My normal attitude is ” No, I’m not a herd animal.  Now, go run quick – the rest of your ilk are leaving you behind.”.  It isn’t those that just “do the wrong” that get nailed – it’s also those that don’t protest enough against that wrong (just ask some North Koreans who had dry eyes when their Great Leader died.

Hey, Conservatives and Libertarians – you really want the Libs / Progs to control you in this game?  Then keep it up.
