Do Nothing Democrats

It has been three years since the Democrat party produced a federal budget.  The Democrat Senate has blocked repeated efforts by the Republican controlled House to ‘do something’ about that.

President Obama, Senate leader Harry Reid, and the Democrat leaderships contribution (including their media homunculus) has been to demand compromise without giving any.

Charles Karuthammer reminds us that…

Sen. Tom Coburn last year signed on to the Simpson-Bowles tax reform that would have increased tax revenues by $1 trillion over a decade.

During the debt-ceiling talks, Speaker John Boehner agreed to an $800 billion revenue increase as part of a Grand Bargain.

Supercommittee member Pat Toomey, a Club for Growth Republican, proposed increasing tax revenues by $300 billion as part of $1.2 trillion in debt reduction.

These are revenue increasing measures that actually lower tax rates while removing loopholes that will add more dollars to the treasury in the process.  They remove exceptions for the wealthy, which you might think would placate the Democrats.  But the progressives are having none of it.

Democrats are too focused on the partisan class war they are hoping brings them electoral victory to be bothered with the idea of doing anything about the budget, the debt, the deficit, or revenue.  I left off spending because Democrats are always prepared to spend so they can then use the tax code to rob others of their property, be it in Washington DC or here in New Hampshire.

The left is committed to salting the budget wound for political gain regardless of the misery it causes.  It is their contention that by doing nothing for another year, people who continue to suffer under their yoke will forget that they have controlled a majority of the government for the past six years, including Congress, all the bureaucracies, and the Executive, and the Executive, all the Bureaucracies and the Senate for the past three (going on four).  During this time they have blocked every effort to compromise to pay for the enormous super-state they are so enamored with unless you define compromise as pitching a televised fit on the floor like a toddler until they get their way.
