Patriots? I watched THOUSANDS of them yesterday

As I wrote here, Obama wishes to twist the traditional value of what a Patriot in the typical Liberal fashion – lowest common denominator.

You know, one of the events that most Liberals disdain (and even the effete, elite Republicans) is NASCAR, especially at the Sprint Cup – simply put, "redneck NASCAR fans" – the low brow, low intelligence, fast cars, fast women, and beer.  Well, I was watching the Talladega race yesterday (yes, it was run on Sunday, but I use my DVR a lot!).  I had already read what Obama said about patriotism and was still a bit torqued off.  However, it passed as I watched the intro ceremonies.

One thing about NASCAR fans that go, they love their drivers, they love their families, they DO love fast cars.  They also adore the military as these folks often make up the military or have relatives in the military (like me, except I don’t consider myself a huge fan).  They love their religion as when the invocation is given (and it ALWAYS starts with a prayer – and you can tell that by watching all the heads in the crowd looking downward (and NASCAR outdraws football!).

They also have the National Anthem sung before each race and this week was the 82nd Airborne All American Chorus.  I have to admit, I choked up a bit as these young men and women, dressed in their BDUs and red berets, sang a cappella and in a great arrangement.  To me, these soldiers outdid some of the "progressional" singers that have stepped up to the stage.  And right on cue, a couple of F-22s from the 43rd Figher squadron from Tyndall Air force Base flew over the packed stadium -a representation of America’s might as the superpower of the world.

But while that "set me up", what really set me off was the next part.  Every race always starts with some notable shouting "Gentlemen, Start. Your. Engines!".  For this race, CEO of Camping World and Good Sam Enterprises Marcus Lemonis was the person to utter these words.

But before he did, he yelled out this:

"If you are proud to be an American, then stand on your feet and make some noise!"

The crowd was deafening.

How many of the Occupy Wall Street folks would react in as vigorous a fashion?  In surfing their activities and reading / listening to many that would simply (example) do away with America as it is now, I posit: not many.
