A Rant Worth Reading

If you do not frequent Andrew Breitbart’s Big Hollywood you should.   You’ll get the inside scoop on Kardashian - Famous for what exactly?movies, reviews, upcoming projects, and the people in the industry.  You will also get on the money, hit it out of the park, righteous rants like this one.

We, as conservatives who love freedom – meaning of necessity that we love free enterprise and detest the idea of the kind of fascist nanny state these losers would impose in order to to make the world conform to their arbitrary and self-serving concepts of fairness – need to draw the battle line here, at the celebrities.

We need to defend the right of everyone – even stupid, useless, vapid nincompoops – to get rich.

Liberals see success as a problem – if people are able to live their own lives without the guidance of aspiring liberal fascists, the entire premise of liberalism is fatally undercut. So success is the target, …

The entire piece, written by Kurt Schlichter, addresses the idea of an #OccupyHollywood movement. "#Occupy Hollywood – the left begins to eat itself."  He reminds us that success is good, and that we should support it, even when it is the zipper-headed socialists–becasue it’s their stuff.  And whatever their real problem is, the real socialists are just using them to get what they really want.

Spreading hate for the successful, lying that their success is somehow illegitimate or “unearned” because it fails to meet some ever-shifting set of arbitrary standards, is simply a way to get their fascist footsies in the door to redistribute us.

Pot-shots at Hollywood liberals have to made in the proper context–Hypocrisy. Kurt nails this down and identifies them as the useful idiots many of them are.  But the overreaching point, aside from repeatedly wondering why we as a society continue to make talentless dopes like Kim Kardashian wealthy, is that our right to do so is no less important than their right to benefit from it.

Maybe a few celebrities might learn a lesson from Occupy Hollywood.  Maybe some might not be so quick to reflexively adopt the latest tidbit of lefty received wisdom next time. But it doesn’t matter. We don’t defend their freedom because we like them. We do so because it is the right thing to do, and because when we defend their freedom, we are defending our own.

At the end of the day it’s the freedom that matters most.
